NGD: belated 50th Bday present

So...even though my 50th was in October, I saw a guitar I really wanted, so my family bought it for me. I've been wanting a Floyd guitar to take out to bars, and I never had a V, so they got me a Jackson JS32 Rhoads in the gun metal gray color. It was $250 new, and I expected a guitar that I was going to have to completely rebuild to get it to play and sound decent. What a surprise I got! I'm not gonna say its the best playing axe I've ever had, but the action is great. The biggest surprise is the Jackson pickups. I was going through my stash of Duncans to see what I was going to put in it, but when I plugged it in at rehearsal yesterday, nobody in the band could believe the way it sounded. Really full and hot, similar to the Duncan Distortion (if I was going to compare). The neck pickup sounds great for chords and soloing alike. I hate to say it since I swap pickups on everything, but these pickups are stayin'. The Floyd stays in tune perfectly, and I went nuts on it to check it out. Really pleased, and I'll try to get some pics up soon. Did I just get a good one, or is the quality on these pretty good across the board?

Looks so nice man! personally I tried one and wasn't a fan but if it works for you I won't argue the fact! enjoy and rock-on! \m/

Looks better than I thought it would. You never think much about satin finished guitars until you own one, and then you're spoiled by the baby smooth feel when playing it. It all makes sense then.

Awesome!! Congrats and happy Belated B Day!! Glad its a killer axe for ya too! Ive played a couple of the new imports and they seemed pretty nice. Amazing what you can get for the $$ these days. That a bolt on? Nothing like a pointy axe like that to make you feel young again huh??

Thanks for the props guys. Yep, it makes me feel young, lol. I played one in GC, and I was knocked out by the action for such a cheap guitar. I saw this one and said hmm, V; hmm, Floyd; hmm, CHEAP! Haven't pulled it apart yet, but if I can split the pickups, I'll get some push/pull pots and do it up. The nice thing is if it gets busted or robbed, coupla months saving and she can be replaced if need be.
