Congrats Drex. It sounds like a fine axe. Thanks for the demo vid, too. It was nice to hear what it can do. It's good both clean and dirty. I'd probably stuff something different in the middle on a blend but then I like to mess with wiring. :D

Thanks, that wasn't my video though, it was made by some guitar website.

I'm definitely going to add a B+N push pull.

Wanna know something funny? I had an MIM Standard with the flat, thick modern bridge plate. I pulled it off and put a '52RI bridge plate on it.

I find that there's a certain zing to the tone of a Tele that is only present with the original style stamped steel plates. Even the cheapo ashtrays are usually actually cast brass with a chrome plate on them and they sound duller.

That's a personal preference, though.

It's hard for me to visualize what a Tele bridge pickup would sound like in the middle and neck positions?

I'd probably straighten out the middle and neck pickups and install a single-ply, five-hole white guard, then leave the rest stock.

Is it possible to get the pickups out of the guard easily? It looks like the holes in the guard might hug the coils very tightly. Makes me wonder how they got them in there in the first place. Probably just deceptive photos, though.

P.S. What do you mean by one half of the bridge being polished, and the other half not? Do you mean the area forward of the pickup is smooth, but the area behind is not? If that's what you're talking about, then that's normal for a vintage-style Tele bridge; that's how they are, and always have been. Have you ever actually played or owned a vintage-style Tele before?

My MIJ's have ash trays without the polished half, for example

I bet the tele kit i assembled and finished for a mate would sound better.

From china to usa its all equal ground in quality as far as i am concerned.

I strongly prefer the ash tray style also. A Tele is supposed to be a simple, rugged 50's guitar. That old bridge looks the part (especially reminiscent of those ash trays in airplane arm rests), and the barrel saddles are tastefully crude. If I want a more technically perfect guitar, I look to Parker, or a Strat Deluxe. A vintage Tele give a middle finger to so may attempts to improve upon the basic electric guitar concept over the decades, and that's part of it's charm, it's longevity and it's flexibility. A modern Babicz bridge with perfect intonation just detracts from what it is.

Then why buy one that has 3 pickups? Is that like giving a middle finger to yourself? The Fender Classic Player Triple Tele sounds like an attempt to improve upon the "basic electric guitar concept" to me.

So you're saying a guitar with improper intonation sounds better? The other question is do you have a Babicz bridge to base this on? Have you ever even played one?

I use D'Addario EXL110s on my Teles and don't have any intonation issues.

I'm bipolar in my guitar needs... Either vintage Teles or guitars with Floyd Roses and humbuckers.
