NGD Fender Classic Player Triple Tele

Re: NGD Fender Classic Player Triple Tele

This is an interesting concept. A lot of guitars on the market try to combine the feature of one guitar with another, e.g. the Cabronita is a tele with Gretsch pickups, or the Big Apple Strat using 2HB to get closer to the Gibson sound in a Fender package.

This guitar takes what is really the essence of the Telecaster, that funky bridge pickup, and triples the dosage...an intensifying effort rather than an amalgamation.

Like I said, an interesting concept.

Re: NGD Fender Classic Player Triple Tele

I use D'Addario EXL110s on my Teles and don't have any intonation issues.

I don't notice any problems with the barrel saddles. The many thousands of guitarists who've happily used them for decades don't seem to mind either.

I'm bipolar in my guitar needs... Either vintage Teles or guitars with Floyd Roses and humbuckers.

It's subtle. Fender Japan has a tone of vintage reissue type guitars with custom flourishes, sometimes the flourish is tasteful, sometimes it isn't. In general, if it pays respect to the vintage aesthetic, I like it, but it it's trying "correct" or replace the vintage aesthetic, I'm not as happy with that, and I feel those chrome plated modern Tele bridges serve to correct or replace the vintage aesthetic.

Yeah, it's daring to say that maybe Leo Fender over-thought something that was already simple to begin with, and then there's a 'too much of a good thing is a great thing' ethic to it.

I'm hoping they'll also offer this guitar in blonde, red or navy blue.

Nice score DreX. I definitely want to snag one of these.

Re: NGD Fender Classic Player Triple Tele

You know what would make that sucker really pop? A double-creme humbucker in the bridge.

You're thinking too small.

THREE doubke cream humbuckers wired in split-series-parallel with chrome rings.

That will make the Marshall scream!

I wonder if the custom shop could bang out cream Black Winters?

It's an interesting idea to be sure and kinda cool that fender gave it the college try. I'd love to know how popular it ends up being. Will it be extra Tele goodness or too much of a good thing?

I think we can all google the answer to that question.
