NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Awesome to hear! Yes, they definitely have an amazing smell, feel, and tone to them! I love plain ole black dots on a maple board! Especially with black hardware!

Oh and btw, did it come as a solid one piece or a maple neck with a maple slab on it?

Maple neck with a maple slab so I am definitely happy about that too. I love some of the grain on the back of the neck.

Awesome! Yeah, from my research it looks like that is the best way to go...and it definitely didn't hurt Jimi's tone ;)

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

So, it turns out I had an old switchcraft 3-way in another guitar case around here so I threw it in the guitar and problem solved!

Now, to talk about what the thread is actually about for a change: WLH humbuckers

Wow! I can't believe my ears! These pickups are amazing! I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the extra money to get these but now I wish I would have ordered them when they came out! The bridge is especially sweet. The split coil tones are amazing too and really play nice with the maple/swamp ash of the guitar. I am running the neck humbucker with a no-load pot as I do and have on all my HH guitars past and present. The neck probably doesn't even need the no-load pot with this combo but it is really nice to have the option. The tone I am getting from these pickups is so awesome! I think I'm gonna go play a bit more.

Oh man it's an awesome guitar! I stayed up playing it all night now I'm going to bring it to my local tech to see if he has some time to make the nut slots a little deeper.

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Alright, nut slots are filed down to my liking and the guitar is polished and ready for some photos. I will try to resist playing it until I take the photos. Hopefully I will get to the photos today or tomorrow.

Awesome! Glad to hear that ole Switchcraft saved the day!

Would be very interested in hearing how those sound...why don't you do the world a favor and upload some clips for crying out loud :headache:

jk ;)

With that new axe I'm surprised you stopped playing long enough to comment... I fully didn't expect to hear anything from you for a couple of days! :headbang::fing2:

My thoughts exactly! :bigok:

Sweetness! Looking forward to seeing pics!...and hearing clips ;)

Congrats on the build dude, enjoy!

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

I put a WLH neck in the bridge and an Antiquity Jazz in the neck of my Tokai MIJ LP and it sounds fantastic.
The bridge WLH in the bridge was too strong and bassy for me
