the only one that I play anymore

Phat Cat, No tone, just volume

coaxial cable for hum reduction works like a charm.

very clever using coaxial cable. i've used it for all sorts of things. i use cat-5 to wire guitars too. screw the conventional stuff usually found in guitars. coax is great unless you have a crowded control cavity, cat-5 is always good.

Re: Ok, show us your girls...

We really should make a permanent topic shown at the top of the page where everyone would post their guitar pics. It's tiring to always post them when some n00b asks for them, and thus less people post pics.

Re: Ok, show us your girls...

click on my profile to see em

the semihollow ibanez am-50 has two original bill (and becky) lawrence 500XLs from 1986 (PA factory) .. it has a 4 way rotary pickup selector that gets B only, B+N (in phase parallel), B+N (out of phase parallel), N only ... the two 2-way mini toggles control internal series or parallel for each pickup ... 12 different combinations - all hum cancelling ...

the ibanez 540s has a 59(n), duck(m) and C5(b) ... 59 had a mag flip and is reverse wired ... the 3 way mini toggle splits the coils (inner, both, outer) of the N and B ... the volume is push-pull ... when pushed, it lets the duck be in the circuit for positions 2, 3, and 4 on the 5 way ... when pulled, it lets me combine the neck and bridge as inners/all/outers when the 5 way is in position 3 ... 16 total combinations, all but 4 are humcanceling

the brian moore is trick over stock too .. sperzel upgraded tuners, AIIP(n) and JB(b) ... 5 way P type megaswitch

the tokai tele ('52ri clone) has the SD vintage stack for tele set and 4 way

i got this modding out of my system when i was recording ... now i play guitars wired standard cus they are more practical for live use ...

my EJ strat and PRS sc245 (not shown in pic) are stock

Re: Ok, show us your girls...

Carvin DC 127...don't know how old really...guessing 15 years. Picked it up used for 200 bucks. Not the best tone but the thing is a rock and it stays in tune, plays as good as anything and has never let me down. Tons of gigs done with this one until I could get a PRS.
127.jpg

PRS Custom 22....stock save for cropping the wammy bar a few inches. This has been my main axe for around 10 years. It's actually the second C22 I've owned the first was purple with a 10 top traded for the next guitar in line...The Taylor.
SlyPRS.jpg

Taylor 310CE...This thing has seen hundreds of duo and solo gigs over the last ten years. Plays like a dream. I'll usually run it through a GT-6 for chorus and other FX.
Taylor.jpg

Lonestar Strat...MIM...came loaded with Duncans. I need to get a black pickguard for it. The mother of bowling ball pickguard just doesn't do anything for me.
Strat.jpg

Parts-o-Caster. Bought it used for a song. Needs bigger frets. Pickguard and pups from Carvin. They sound surprisingly good. It came loaded with a white pickguard with EMG's. I really should sell off the EMG's as they would fetch a few bucks.

1980 Gibson LP Firebrand. Just a solid chunk of mahogany with a ebony fretboard. Original pups are history. Dimarzio Tone Zone in the neck and an Evolution inthe bridge. This was my first electric bought along with a peavy combo amp from a school mate back in 1982. Bridge and fine tuners from a Gibson RD Artist.
LP.jpg

Old Yamaha Acoustic...paid 200 back in 1983. This thing has survived EVERYTHING. It checked and cracked to death on the back after being thrown into a car when it was about 2 degrees F. Still plays great. Sounds great. Perhaps the best 200 dollars I ever spent.

Then don't post your pics.

Re: Ok, show us your girls...

+1 to the sticky idea. I agree not out of grumpiness and reluctance to repost pictures but rather to improve the organization of the forum. It would be good to have a thread with pictures of everyone's gear and it seems new attempts at making such a thread are brought up every month or so.

The telecaster has a white pickguard now with a Strat Quarter Pound in the neck and a Quarter Pound Lead in the bridge.

Re: Ok, show us your girls...

On the left, 1980 Gibson e/2 maple/walnut. Original 1979 X2N in the bridge and a 1979 Super Distortion in the neck. On the right, 1981 e/2 CMT Custom, EMG 81/85

Re: Ok, show us your girls...

is a "noodles" guitar? is it real ducktape? ^

I've read somewhere it's gaffa tape and that they were supposedly "hand-wrapped" lol
It's actually a decent guitar, the neck is pretty comfortable being around the same thickness as the Warmoth Standard thin that I have on the tele and the Talman body shape is really well balanced. The gaffa tape is likely a large contributor to the rather uninspiring unplugged tone but doesn't seem to affect the tone plugged in. I'd guess the tape doesn't do much to impede the wood resonating underneath but that it does block the sound from actually coming out somewhat.

The SG gets a lot more playing time though. I'm definitely more comfortable on a 24.75" scale guitar. I'll probably get a conversion neck for the telecaster at some point.
