Re: One Amp, One Cab, One Guitar

ok here's what I've been using. the amp head is only about a month old and it has won the job as my main amp, the cab is a laney 2x12 with the stock celestion 70 eighty's and the guitar (by far my favorite ever) my charvel pro mod wildcard #4. the guitar simply can get any tone from full out metal to the sweetest blues and the deepest jazz tones, the cab is just a nice solidly build cab, the amp is extremely versatile and has that gain sound I have searched for since I started playing the combination is simply beautiful.

This is my selection. The amp/cab are obvious choices but let me explain the guitar. That's my Epiphone Lp Jr. Its one of the Mahogany ones that they were bundling with the Rocksmith game. I wrote it off and put in my closet before totally forgetting about it. Two or three years passed before I "rediscovered" it and gave it a chance.

Its resonant, it has a great neck and it is fun to play. Because of this, I dropped a JB in it and its become one of my top 3 guitars. I have nicer, more expensive guitars but with the JB (500k pots...don't tell anybody), and the feel of the instrument I would feel well equiped with just this.

Its not beautiful, its not expensive, but it is unbelievably well built. It doesn't get any more Rock n' Roll than that, right?

Re: One Amp, One Cab, One Guitar

if this thread is not dead in like a week and a half, I'll post my rig. At the moment I'm packing to move out on saturday, to the new pad. By the time I get everything unpacked and settled, it'll be AT LEAST the weekend of oct 4th.

Re: One Amp, One Cab, One Guitar

Don't have a pic of my rig at the moment but it's all pretty "normal" stuff.
Mesa Roadster (four channels kinda feels like cheating)
Marshall 1960a
Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro, ebony (coil splits also feel like cheating)

Re: One Amp, One Cab, One Guitar

I built everything in this pic, although the guitar neck is a Warmoth (I modified the heel). When i say I built this stuff, I mean that literally ... no kits involved.

The large head is my own amalgam of Matchless DC30/ Vox AC30 and some elements of vintage Selmer. I made the chasis from a flat plate, and the transformers are torroidals built to my specs. The cab, also home-built, contains a pair of 10" Celestion Alnico Golds. (the cab and head were built at different times and weren't intended to be paired, hence the slightly different sizes).

The guitar construction has it's own thread in The Vault.

well, I only have one guitar and one guitar amp I play live ;). I have a bass practice rig, and a bass live rig. HERE IS MY WALL OF DOOM:

Re: One Amp, One Cab, One Guitar

I have been waffling back and forth about what I want to post to this thread, half because I don't know what I'd want to use, and half because I want to post a sexy picture.

Some heads look better on other cabs and make for more attractive pix but wouldn't necessarily be the tone I'd want. Ugh.

Can I post different rigs for different scenarios or am I forced to commit to one...

Re: One Amp, One Cab, One Guitar

If I can do multiple rigs I got another one then. Prosonic with a box of whatever speakers and a Yamaha Pacifica hss strat that's better than a 112. I like the headstock on em.

Re: One Amp, One Cab, One Guitar

If I had more than two amps and two cabs I'd post a buttload of different rigs. I can mix and match though for maximum postage.

Re: One Amp, One Cab, One Guitar

I'll play. My '99 R9, and a good friend's Supro. And yes, it's very funky.
