Orange Super Crush 100

What's the difference between this and the Rockerverb MKIII?
The Crush is solid state, Rockers are tube?

I've looked at the videos of that too and have been impressed, seems to be better than the previous Crush Pro, I'm sure due to the discrete JFET front end and A/B power amp.

And to answer Beau's question, the Crush Pro is supposed to be a solid state version of the Rockerverb, at $499, it definitely deserves a look.

I've had this amp for a few days now and thought I'd share my thoughts about it after spending some time with it.

This is my first Orange. I have never played through one before. I've been a Randall guy exclusively for close to 26 years now and just in the past few months I have decided to branch out and try other amps. I did start out playing Marshall and I will always like them, but Randall was my thing. Still is.

Orange. Why didn't I give these amps a shot long ago? Not sure, but I am happy I finally did. I am in love with the Super Crush 100 and it has only been a few days. Maybe you've heard about this head sounding like a tube amp? I can confirm it's true. I can't believe it isn't tube because it sounds like one. The cleans are so good and the dirty channel has 4 stages of gain. The gain really doesn't do anything below halfway, but once you set it halfway and above it really comes alive. At max gain it rivals my Randall, but it's a totally different sound. Fuzzy and thick. The EQs on both the clean and dirty channel are like magic. To me this feels like the perfect amp for what I play. No pedals. Just plug in and go. And the Reverb? The best sounding reverb I have ever heard. I like it. I'm glad I took a chance on the Super Crush 100. No regrets. Just an awesome amp and worth what they go for and more. I am now an Orange fan.

Thats what I always hear when someone demos an Orange. Congested and fuzzy.

I'm glad you're in love with the Orange sound, but I don't get it.

There were many bands in the 70s that hated the original Orange amps.

I'm sure they've come a long way since then. I'm really surprised how versatile this Super Crush is. Great for blues to metal. Pretty much anything.

Oh, I am sure, too. But I think when they came back, they were going on all the people that watched those old Beat Club videos with stacks of Orange amps.

My guitars that have a JB I haven't been able to dail them in yet. This is one of those amps that pickups play an important role in the overall tone, more so than a lot of solid states. Every one of my guitars sound different on this amp. So far the Duncans I've tried are the JB, Nazgûl, and Black Winter. The Black Winter is my favorite to use and the Nazgûl is a close second.

FWIW my Orange AD50, if you roll the bass back to about the 7th notch, it sounds like a normal Marshall. If you dime the bass, it's Black Sabbath all day long.

I have the bass at noon on both channels. On the Dirty channel I have the high at 7 and the mids at noon. Even with everything at noon it sounds very good. I agree about the Marshall sound. You can get very close.

I finally got around to trying some pedals out. The Boss Super Overdrive sounds outstanding on this amp. I wish I would had kept some of my chorus and delay pedals. Really the only thing missing. I'm buying the single Orange footswitch soon. Don't need the double switch one since I have no plans turning off the reverb.
