Re: Original Edge tremolo on Ibanez S270 Korean

yeahhhhhhhh.,.... good...good..... i was thinking where i will get this...and here you bring it....thanks....

or just stick folded aluminum sheet under the saddles. Even rich@ibanezrules does that.

Re: Original Edge tremolo on Ibanez S270 Korean

But I am saying this again, if you are about to spend ALL those money, you better go grab the edge zero-ii and get done with it. You will have a more refined bridge, and more ergonomic, with the correct radius, Ibanez, than butchering both your precious guitar and your newly expensive OFR to make them fit.

i was thinking on some thing like that, is too much work too.....

Re: Original Edge tremolo on Ibanez S270 Korean

Go for it dude. Butch the hell out of that sucker. I think everybody should embrace the original Edge, the most stable, toughest looking, smoothest feeling tremolo ever made.

Don't worry too much about milimeters. It should fit any guitar with modern flat radius. Take it from me, an actual convert...ha...ha.. I've done it to my 90s USA superstrat. What you should worry about is the scale length cause it will affect intonation.

And don't go half ass. Why go for the Edge Zero (ii, iii, iv, whatever), if you are going to hack the hell out of that guitar anyway. Get the best, the original!

In the photo below you can see the old holes (now covered with dowels) where the old one used to sit in.

Re: Original Edge tremolo on Ibanez S270 Korean

i found this on other forum

Your #1 concern should be to match the radius. If you don't, some strings will be WAY higher off the fretboard than others. I did a lot of research concerning this and figured out a few...

OFR - 10"
TRS-101 (used on old MIJ Ibanez's that didn't have Edge's) - 12"
Gotoh - most people say they're 14" but I found that they're 12" at the nut and 16" at the bridge
Schaller - 12"

Re: Original Edge tremolo on Ibanez S270 Korean

My decision is with the Schaller but I put all this to enrich our knowledge

"Width at Nut" and "Radius" are important measurements, but you need to make some more measurements to make sure you get the right one. The table doesn't show any further useful information such as the height of the nut, string spacing or the required width of the shelf that the nut rests on.

Have a look here (click on the "Technical Drawing" button) and compare the dimensions of your nut with the measurements shown on that page.

Assuming your neck is actually a Wizard II with a 43mm nut width you can straight away discount the R1, R2, R6 and R7 nuts (too narrow) and the R5 nut (too wide).

It's also worth noting that there appears to be a discrepancy in their drawings that may require emailing Schaller to check. The radius on the drawings for all 10 nuts is shown as 10", but the table on this page (under "Guidelines") suggests that the R9 and R10 nuts are 12" radius. If it turns out that all their nuts are 10" radius, I'd be wary about replacing the nut on your guitar with a Schaller version.

Tremolo Locking-Nut right
Matching locking nuts for our Schaller tremolos.

The strings sit just as firmly, but there are no sharp edges that could potentially cause string breakage.
Suitable for all common string gauges.
Essentially, special studs are used to attach the tremolo, together with their own inserts. These have a fine thread. For special applications, we also supply studs with threads which can be screwed directly into the wooden body (i.e. without inserts).
