I recently bought a 76 Explorer that I love. The bridge pup is a Seymour Duncan but I had no Iidea which model.
I have wanted to try a Pearly Gates in one of my guit's for quite a while and I figured that the Explorer would be the operfect candidate.
I gigged the Explorer for the first time Monday and received an incredible response from members of the audience and members of my band. They told me that my lead tone was amazing. I was using the bridge pup the whole time.
Tonight I was playing the guitar and really listening. The bridge pup just continues to blow me away. I made up my mind to keep the pup, which ever model Duncan it may be.
About an hour ago my curiousity got the best of me. I yanked the bridge pup out of the guitar and to my surprise it is a Pearly Gates!! It seems that I had what I wanted all along. When I first played the guitar at the music store it was the tone of the bridge pup that caught my attention in the first place.
Isn't it cool how things work out
Sorry for the long-winded post but I haven't been this happy about a pup in my 20 years of playing. This is what I've been hearing in my head.
Thanks for listening
