Re: Pearly gates plus
Let's have a growl-off then. The loudest and most discernibly growly growl wins.
On a side note, I tried out a Fender Strat with a Pearly Gates Plus in the bridge, and compared it to a Hamer Studio single-cut (basically a Les Paul with a Duncan '59 set). The bridge positions on both guitars sounded remarkably similar!
Now I know that the Pearly Gates Plus and the '59b are quite similar pickups, but I wouldn't have guessed that the Pearly Gates Plus would sound so full in a Strat. These were both being played clean, by the way, on a Dr. Z combo and a Roland Cube.
Since then, I've decided that the Pearly Gates Plus is really one of Duncan's best humbuckers.
