Pedalboard order suggestions

I'm trying to figure out the placement of my pedals before building my board. I was going to do tuner - wah - q zone - phase 90 - octafuzz - cae boost - chorus - tremolo - delay. Then I talked to my old drummer about putting the band back together which means I'll be needing to add reverb - 10 band eq - overdrive. The eq I use for a lofi effect on a couple of songs. Where would be the best placement for the 3 extra pedals?

Re: Pedalboard order suggestions

My general order call:

tuner -

octafuzz (pitch track device; Goes first)
wah (I like to wah the fuzz - give more effect. Fuzz can mellow a wah big time - but that can be cool too. Your call)
q zone (Auto wah?)
cae boost (unless it is simply for lead boost, then last after OD)
overdrive

(in loop if available)
- phase 90 (Swirl first, IMO)
- chorus
- delay
- tremolo
- reverb (verb last, IMO)
- 10 band eq - VERY last because of the lofi effect

Then I talked to my old drummer about putting the band back together which means I'll be needing to add

There are a lot of options here - no right one. You'll have to experiment. General rules apply generally

Pitch before all
Gain first, in increasing dirt order
Eq after gain
Swirlies (flange/phase/chorus etc...)
TIme based (Delay/Verb)

Many can go lots of places: EQ, Comp, Boost, Trem, etc...depending on what you want.

I generally go Trem > Verb. I can argue for trem up there with EQ post gain or as a swirly pre delay.

+1 Its also good experiment and see what sounds best to you.

Re: Pedalboard order suggestions

I find that chorus and EQ work much better in the loop. Sometimes also delay. Nothing is carved in stone as far as order. Aceman has given you some pretty good general guidelines, but experimentation is always part of the equation. I have changed the order on my pedalboard at least a half dozen times as my tastes have changed over the years, or as I have changed a pedal or two, or added a new one, or just wanted a different overall sound/effect.

Re: Pedalboard order suggestions

I like to put from geet:
Tuner> Pitch> {Noise Clamp-Dist/OD }> Pre Amp
Loop > time based effects> EQ> power amp.
So for me it goes.
Tuner
Morpheous drop tune
Looped through MXR Noise Clamp
-MXR Fullbore Metal
-MXR '78 Distortion
-Digitech Bad Monkey
-Digitech Clapton Crossroads
Into pre amp

From loop
MXR BLS Chorus
Boss ME-6 (Delay, Compression, Phaser, EQ or any mix there of etc)

NOTE: Do NOT use any gain producing devices in the loop if you like you power amp!!!

Personally I'd never put a Phase 90 in a loop, I prefer it's tone used before any gain, in the EVH fashion. But do experiment, the effect will be much stronger in the loop, and you might like it. And yeah, your delay will rock in the loop.
