Per request Salas JB/ C8 vs MG JB/ C8

[Ascension]

This is over the Pink Floyd style backing track. The players all Washburn USA's the Salas 24.75 scale mahogany neck and body neck through guitar and two of my 1995 MG's both Swamp Ash. The only difference in the MG's is the color and neck pickups otherwise they are identical. Same settings same backing track just the different pickups in the same guitar.

This should provide a clear picture of the Crazy 8 solo voice in different woods .
I love it in Swamp Ash in paticular!!
This pickup eats soloing up. The solo voice is smooth and defined with good bite with out being harsh.

Just listen twice to the MG clips and I like the Crazy8 much better , it has the same cut than the JB but with much more varied overtones !

And I think you do the same because you played much better with the Crazy8 and this speak for itself ; thanks for those superb comparisons .

Crazy 8 is a **** ( such ! ) good pickup :banghead:

Yep I agree and what has me :banghead: is I bought two Crazy 8's but sold one. It was so muddy in the Salas at first I thought it was a dud and sold the second one. Then I realized the guitar had a bad pot and that was why the output was so low and tone was SO dark :foot:. Oh well I still have the one and it ROCKS in the Swamp Ash MG 100.
I really wish I could try a regular Custom with the A8. While I like the tones of the Crazy 8 I wonder how having conventional poles with the same wind would effect the attack hmm??

I agree with likeing the Crazy 8 better in the MG but in the Salas I like the JB better. It's all about the combination of pickup response and the woods.

awesome clips man, best showcase of the crazy 8's abilities that i've heard this far. I gotta get off my lazy butt and put my trem spaced one in my strat. should be absolutely killer in that guitar.
