If you'd like my two cents, the Jason Becker signature pickup would likely serve you well for what you're describing. It's kind of like a 59 and a JB got it on and had a love child. Nice clarity and attack like the 59 and a good dose of snarl from the JB without ripping your head off with upper mids and output. Granted I'm obsessive, but this pickup likes a lower rated 500K pot. If you have a shop with a lot of selection and patience, try to find a pot that rates about 400K to 425K to take off a little brittleness.
