I got my cable today and I can't believe I waited so long to try one of these. After about two minutes with this thing I suddenly realized that I don't think I've been hearing but about half the sounds that have been going into my amp(in a good way). Well worth the extra money over the live wire I'd been using.

i dont like them, they break. ive had the big chunky spring ones and a cirquit breaker and they have both died on me, the chunky one is all sealed so othere than cutting it open it cant be fixed and the cirquit breaker, well i cant find any problems with it, it just doesnt work anymore. they are good cables untill they start to break.

they may have lifetime gaurentees, but i lost the reciepts thinking that they would last me a lifetime

maybe i have some duds, i dont know but still 2 cables from them have broken, i have bought cables elsewhere since. (ie not planet waves)

If you can hear THAT much of a difference between cables then you've missed your calling somewhere in life as an auditor for tit mice farting in a 20 acre field.
Seriously people......they're cables. It's like saying your light bulbs look THAT much better because you re-wired the house with "premium" cable.
Any change in sound you hear is a parasympathetic reaction in your wallet from paying too much.

i used to think of that too, i use whatever cable is available. but this past few years i am regularly using a mid priced cable(also a planet waves actually) and one time i had to use a $2.00 cable and i immediately noticed that my tone is very slightly muffled than the planet waves. i think cables can make a difference specially when you're playing at high gain where your signal gets amplified a couple of times.Skarekrough said:

Cables are usually the weakest link in most setups. It's definately worth spending that bit extra for something decent. Does that work for wireless systems? I know the better the system the better the signal, but do you need to ensure you have the purest air possible?!?!?!?!? Perhaps playing in Michael Jackson's oxygen chamber gives the best response!!

Cables make a huge difference and unless you get something with lower capacitance (like Planet Waves), you are missing the highend in your signal and odds are things all the way around will not be as clear.

Sorry dude, but there IS a difference between cheap cables and premium ones.
The difference is mainly due to the quality of + conductor. Capacitance is the culprit, the voltage produced by the pickups is so weak that a low capacitance cable plays a important role. HIgh capacitance rolls off highs and reduce clarity and quality of signal.
Moreover, a good quality cable will last longer than a cheap one.
Again, you get what you pay for.
This are facts measurable by ear, and not only "parasympathetic reactions"

BTW, I use only PW cables too. I have 2 Circuit breakers (guitar > pedalboard > amp) and 2 Customs (fx loop).
What I like about the Customs is that it uses a twisted pair for + / - signal, plus a shield, connected only to one end, providing a better insulation against EMF and other noises....

I watched Queen's DVD, live at Wembly Stadium, and during a big lead break, Brian May runs all over the stage with the longest cable I've ever seen. Alot of classic rockers had long coiled cables. I'm thinking they got great tone without special cables. How did they do that? I mean I've heard not to go over 18'.

i also had a problem with spring cables when they were first out, not actually planet waves but a copy where twice i had to send my multi effects unit back too zoom to get the jacks fixed. since i stopped using the spring cables its been fine. the newer spring cables arent as tight so they arent such a problem

Planet Waves cables are alright but they are beaten in every aspect by this:
Neutrik plugs + Klotz cables + soldering gun.
There are better sounding cables around (e.g. LaGrange) but the Neutrik-Klotz combo is awesome for stage use.

I kind of agree but there is a difference once you get into the upper ranges like $100 for some of those top of the line cables - I however am very happy with the cables I use at the moment. I have CBI Gold Rush cables and no complaints!
My tech tried the expensive MOnster cable and said his tone became almost too perfect and hi-fi like when using EMGs so he went back to run of the mill cables. No one in the audience will be able to tell a difference!
In my mind it's the same thing when changing out pots and caps for various brand but using the same value - although that can improve functionality! But, with all on 10 - my Gibson 300k pots sound the same as the CTS 300k pots I use.
