Playing standing up and stretching

We all know that standing up and playing is a lot more difficult than sitting down and playing... the thing I find the most difficult is playing in the upper register of frets on the low E string. That stretch for the fingers is killer. The biggest problem is trying to do a 3 finger stretch across like 6 frets on the low E string while standing up. Anybody have any suggestions for stretching exercises to get used to this so I don't pull a tendon in my arm?

it shouldn't be any harder than sitting. the guitar should rest on your body the same way no matter if you are standing or sitting. if you can reach it sitting but not standing, your wrists and arms are at the wrong angles because your strap is too low.

Guess You Need To Hold Your Guitar Up Like The Beatles???

Love The Beatles...

Or Maybe You Could Try Playing Those Riffs In A Different Place
On The Neck!
Like All Things The Best Exercise Is To Play It Slow And In Time To Train The Different Muscle Groups.

Keep You Wrist As Straight As Possible.

Remember To Take Breaks And Play Counter
Riffs That Put Your Hand In A New Position!
Exmp. If Your Practicing A Lot Of Pinky Stretching In First Position. Move Up To 5th Or 6th And Play Some Chromatic Riffs (4frets in a Row) To Relax Your Fingers A Bit!

You can also try shifting the neck of the guitar more vertically when you are playing and stretching in the high registers.
