Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

[Press play before continuing]

She does look like she has been around, but she is young and clean! Sort of…

Pancake body and mangles strap locks.

Serious case of buckle rash

Triple buckers…looks like a SuperD in the bridge. Bonus!

Looks like a neck repair. Feels pretty solid though.

Fancy tuners

She came in a case like this

It had this on the handle

And yes, she is Christine 016…

That's right -
Ace Frehley
Aged Budokan #16

Edit - backstory as requested by RandO now on page two…

I have a buddy of mine that would be sooooo jealous. He has an Epi Budokan. Nice guitar. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Thats pretty Epic. Congrats Bob!

Neck repairs usually make things better when done correctly, and prices cheaper.

Edit- is the neck repair true to the original and duplicated on the Budokan?

Is that a recessed Dunlop Straplock button?

Looks Cool. What year? All Dimarzios in there? Always a cool feeling to get a sought after guitar. :headbang:

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

The Original Frehley 1974 had the strap buttons replaced. Thus, they were banged/hammered/whatever in…

They are indeed all DiMArzios. Only the bridge works.

The pickups are effed up exactly as per the original

The neck repair is not real. To the best of my knowledge. That's aged. All of the 100 Budokan's have that.

Add some fireworks to the neck pickup.

And naturally, it sounds like a beast. Tested it through a Silver Jubilee

Weighs in at about 9 lbs and change.

No smoke bomb. Yet….

Wait, that strap button is on purpose? :eek13: Previous owner disconnected pickups or it comes like that? :eek5:

It is an exact replica of Ace Frehley's 1974 Custom. Ace did it….not gonna ask why, or how.

Nice!!! I've been wanting one of those. Recently missed an early '70's Custom that someone modded to three pickup at Gruhn's a couple months back. It sold before I could get there to check it out. I have an original series USA AF model from '97. One of my favorite guitars to play at Sunday morning worship.

I really want a Chinese Frehley knockoff.

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

Why? You already have the USA "knockoff".

badass guitar!

i love the recessed dunlops but they musta stopped making em or something. i have a strap for every guitar so it isnt a big deal that you cant use a normal strap and they hang perfectly!

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

Not sure I would buy one with the pickups non functional. I think I would prefer the Epi if that's the case. Just practical, that's all.

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

Ooh! OOH! Please post up a vid of you bangin' out "Dr Love"! Awesome guitar.
So is the neck break, fake? How did they do that, is it painted on, or did they Dremel a crack into it, or something?

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

Re: Please meet the newest member of the family…her name is Christine

They got Ace to personally drop every single one that came off the line, then repaired it. That way the break would be authentic.

Possibly a very rugged looking scarf joint, the surface is scored by CNC to look like a crack, or it is just drawn on. Bob can you feel if there's actually a hairline crack/trench where the replicated break is? Are all the breaks identical between all 100 models?

nice guitar, but truly LMAO at the "crack" signature replication. Must add smth unique to the tone :)
