Re: Post you Gibson SG

Christmas present from my lovely wife last year.

Yeah she's a good one! And the guitar isn't bad, either!

Re: Post your Gibson SG

No more tan 15% of the bridge-to-surface area shall be occupied by pickups. Either single hum or p90 or minis, right?

Re: Post you Gibson SG

My 2007 SG Standard, currently loaded with Phat Cats. They're not doing it for me, but I LOVE P-90s in an SG, so I'm going to try P-Rails next.

The other night I pulled the SG out of its case for the first time in a month or two and tried it through my new Lead 12 for s***s 'n grins.

It sounded absolutely amazing.

I can still barely believe it as I type this, but I think I may just leave the Phat Cats as-is. I don't know if the temperamental EQ of my H&K combo was to blame, or if it's something special about this guitar & amp, but that was the best this guitar has sounded since I installed the PCs maybe 3 years ago.

Turns out that the Lead 12 really likes A2 pickups, but I don't particularly care for them. I don't remember exactly when, but I swapped the Phat Cats for a pair of P-Rails with Triple Shots. Here's what it looks like now:

Re: Post your Gibson SG

Like Fenders Tele, a imperfect/"flawed" instrument. Not nearly as great as the flagship Strats/Les Paul, however the best selling instrumensts(at least the SG) in the line, and for rock, so perfect that so many great instrumentalists have made those guitars their main instruments.

I own both SG and Tele- magnificent, love both but for persoanlly , its the flagship Paul and Strat all the way, and believe the worlds VERY VERY best players hold true to form on this!
