Post your Stratocasters

Re: Post your Stratocasters

Musicraft 2 piece swamp ash body, Fender licensed neck from Warmoth (2003), all Callaham Gold Hardware (I actually bought the last full set of gold hardware he sold, so I got lucky on that). Translucent white finish ala Mary Kaye in true nitro, painted by forum bro Kenny who passed away several years ago. SSL-1 bridge, APS-1 middle and neck.

I think the white is not quite translucent enough, as the raw body has the most amazing grain I've ever seen. The only reason I haven't had it refinished is because Kenny sprayed it for me; it's a very sentimental piece.

Mine are both partscasters, but hey… What the hell, why not?

That’s a killer grain pattern! Glad you let it show through the paint job. It would be a shame to cover that up.

WOW. I think that might be the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen!

And I also think the paint is perfect as is. Any more transluscent, would maybe show the grains too much. I love how theyare just visible, makes it more mysterious.

But damn, stunning!!

This is my Warmoth, with a swamp ash/maple body and wenge/ebony neck. Pickups are a CS 59/Custom Hybrid, Five Two and Classic Stack.

I can't flip the photos since the app won't accept the photos.

1998 Fender AVRI Candy Gold Alder Body, Warmoth Maple/Pau Ferro bound neck, 11-50s, and Seymour Duncan Psychedelics. The Candy Gold has aged and rubs off if you sweat a ton on the worn out spots. I have found gold finish on my skin and clothes. It's pretty cool.

Thank you both. I really lucked into this body as it was in their clearance section. As soon as I saw it I bought it. I also appreciate the feedback on the finish. It's good to hear that you think the finish is translucent enough. I think I would feel guilty stripping Kenny's finish.

The only changes I'm working on is an aged mint green guard from Callaham and aged cream pickup covers and knobs. Ayrton is going to help me fit the guard when I get it, since it has to be modified to fit under the 22nd fret extension. A single ply guard will fit fine, but mint green only comes in 3 ply and it's too thick for the neck to seat all the way down. I want a slightly more aged look to the guitar without aging the finish.

I need to get some pics without flash that show the grain better.

That's a really cool guitar. I really like the fretboard binding, you don't see that very often on a Strat.

It looks cool, but considering how babied and clean it is, that finish ruboff feels like a hell of a QC flop for such an expensive axe... or is weak oldschool paint an advertised feature?
