im trying to plan a warmoth project, but none of the red finishes available on their site are as dark as i want. im lookin for a wine red kinda thing. so i emailed them about it and they said if i had the PPG number for the finish i wanted, they might be able to do it for an extra $75. so does anyone know of a site that lists the finish names with their PPG numbers?

I definately wouldn't try and choose a color from a website. The colors look A LOT different in person than they do on your monitor. You'll get your finished guitar, and there's a good chance it won't be the color you really wanted.

You can do 1 of 2 things.......

1. Check the car dealerships in your area, and see if any of the car colors are close to what you're looking for. Then go to an automotive paint supply store that sells PPG, and tell them the year, make, and model of the car you saw the color on. They'll show you the specific color chart for that car, and you can pick the color from it. Each color swatch will have a paint code number.........that's the number Warmoth will need.

2. Skip the dealerships, and go directly to the PPG automotive paint supplier in your area. Flip through their color swatch books to find a color close to what you're looking for. They'll have automotive make/model/year specific charts, and also small flip books with the full spectrum of each shade. Choosing a 'shade' from the flip book will give you the EXACT color you're after, but can be a VERY time consuming process. You won't believe how many reds are out there!

Good luck,
Mike
