I've got a guitar in Drop D strung with Dave Mustaine Signature Guage GHS Progressives. Very Tight sound, the guage is from 10-52, maybe you'd like to give 'em a try.RepVenom said:Thanks guys. I've been using 9's in Drop D for a while now, and they're alright, but I do want a tighter sounding tone. You mentioned he plays in Drop C, so I'm not gonna jump into 12's or 13's just yet but I'm gonna try 10's and 11's since I'm a Drop D fool.
+1, and yes, their 12-56.Imp said:just get a pack of 'not even slinkys', and put them on a beater! if you dont like the feel, just build up your hand strength on them
they're ernie balls and they're 12-56 i think, but yeah - ask for 'not even slinkies'

RepVenom said:Ya know it just hit me, I tried the Beefy Slinkys once (they are the next size down from Not Evens) and I didn't really like them at all. They were too bassy sounding and they were too hard to play on. And I guess I could build up my hand strength over time but they still sounded too bassy. I want something tighter than the 9's that I'm using now (Super Slinky) but not too bassy, etc...

Try something a little brighter, like GHS Boomers.
Or D'addario XL145's?(12-54)screamingdaisy said:Try something a little brighter,
