Reasons a real floyd rose would go out of tune?

Re: Reasons a real floyd rose would go out of tune?

maybe you should try a 15 year old virgin. I doubt that you could find a 19 year old virgin these days.

Probably true, but also a good way to go to jail.

But, back on topic, I would normally suggest using a little pencil graphite to lubricate the Floyd's knife edges. It has me concerned that the problem is just on the G string though.

There could be a very minute burr on the G string saddle. While the string is off the saddle, try polishing the saddle groove, then lubricating the point where the string comes off from it with a bit of pencil graphite.

Hopefully with a new string clamped into the saddle, and ruling out a burr catching the string at the breakoff point, the problem will be fixed.

Not what they used to be, no strings are that anymore!!
Meaning that strings are not allways consistant...
How do you stretch them by the way?

I don't know if I agree. I have been using D'Adarrio's for quite some time( maybe 15 years or so) and I haven't noticed much different about the strings (aside from packaging). Now granted I don't use Floyd's on my guitars but I don't think the strings are at fault here. I would take the guitar to a tech and have the problem looked at.

Did you read the update?

I didnt wanted to update this until i was positive the prob was gone, well it is!
Using SIT power wounds now and not only did the tuning issue disappear but the tone is much better now.
The problem is now GONE after switching to SIT strings!:smack:

Never realized at how "twangy" d'addarios's were until now not to mention the tuning issue they were causing me.:smack:

I didn't catch the update either. But yeah, sticking with what you know is sometimes the best way to go. Even though the luthier that does work on my guitars doesn't carry Blue Steels, I always take a set in to him when he is working on one of my guitars.
