Reggae/Upbeat music...

Since this is the tips and clips section I thought I would come here with this question.

I mostly 'attempt' to play blues. Simplistic stuff, soloing over backing tracks, making backing tracks and improving over, etc. But the other type of music I listen to is nothing like the blues. I really like reggae-rock music like sublime, matisyahu, and dispatch. I also like melodic solo acoustic music like Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, and Dispatch again.

There really isn't much discussion on this type of music on the forums I frequent (here, the gear page, fender forum) so was just looking to see what kind of reaction I would get here. Where's a good place to start in playing this type of music, or where can I read more into it?

Re: Reggae/Upbeat music...

BASIC Reggae tip: Play up strokes on the off beats. You can turn most rock songs into "reggae" songs like this.

Also, when it comes to reggae, the Phaser is your friend. (tried to find a smiley w/dreads but couldn't)
