Replacing top rubber plate on boss pedal

I feel that replacing the LEDs and knobs on a Boss to let you know it's custom is a bit played out.

Has anyone tried replacing the rubber footpad? I'm considering cutting up a piece of tortoise shell or wood veneer and gluing it on top.

The rubber pad is intended to keep it from sliding on your kitchen floor or hardwood stage

Wood veneer or hard plastic will make it more slick
Be careful not to shoot it across the floor and loose your balance
