Schecter C1 CLASSIC

I was at GuitarCenter the other day and saw this fine looking Schecter, the C1 Classic with the vine neck and I had to play it. To my surprise it sounded AWESOME and the golden humbuckers gave me that zeppelin tone that I have been looking for. The only downside is the pricetag at $699, and the guitar doesn't have a tremelo slot in the bridge, go figure. Other than that I love the guitar and wanted to see what you guys thought. The duncans are JB at bridge, SH-2N Jazz pickup at neck. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/s=amps/search/detail/base_pid/513072/ Check it out and tell me what you guys think.
Do you think it would sound better out of a Fender® FM 212R Guitar Combo Amp or a Line 6 Spider II 112 Combo ?? I need to know what the deal is :32:

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

Ahh the Schecters, IIRC DeadSkinSlayer can help you out a bit on this one.

But here's some C-1 Classic porn anyway...

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

I own a schecter C-1 Elite and its a great guitar. I've yet to play a schecter that I didnt enjoy. IMO $699 isnt a bad price for the guitar your looking at, but if you look around you might be able to score one for a little less, but not by much.

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

Great guitars. Schecters kick ass. Period.

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

I bought a C1-Classic a couple of years ago and love this guitar. Mine is the antique amber finsh. It is the model before they redesigned it. I have a JB/59 and 2 vol. 1 tone. Some find it to be too ornate but I like it. Something different. Before you buy from Guitar Center check it out in Musicians Friend. I bought it through them at a time when they offered free shipping. On top of that you don't pay sales tax. I was able to get the guitar plus the case for approximately the same price that I would have paid at GC for the guitar only plus tax. Something to consider.

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

Schecters are GREAT value for the money... I believe those C-1 Classics are the best ting to get if you want a great strat-style guitar with humbuckers and no trem. Even though I'm a trem fiend I still like guitars with out trems and string-thru contruction because all the notes seem to pack a little more wallop that way. So if you don't feel like using a trem that day when you wanna play then thats the one to get.

I'd negotiate a deal on the guitar too. ;)

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

Awesome guys thanks, the pickups look black on musiciansfriend while they're really gold at guitarcenter..maybe thats just the picture. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the guitar for my birthday lol I'm liking the amber red finish.

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

You can get THAT for $699?, if it plays as good as it looks, go for it now man!

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

Yeah I have played this briefly...

Everything is nice minus the volume pot position, which is just a little too low to violin/ clean up your sound without repositioning your playing position.

Cool axe, very playable and sounds pretty good too

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

i would totally recommend one of those to guys who want a major league sounding/looking/feeling axe for mid-league prices ... enjoy

cheers

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

Guys, I know I'm reviving and old thread but take a look at this auction, it was at $450 the other day until some idiot persisted to keep bidding on it creating a bidding war bumping up the bid to $575. The guitar looks brand new and comes with a case. Could you guys help me clarify what year this Schecter C1 Classic is, if it was made before or after they redesigned it? This one has 1 volume/2 tone pots which if I'm not mistaken is the nicer one before they redesigned it. Here's the sweet axe http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=3762283279&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
Does anyone know the year they were redesigned?

I like the blue one, however, I don't really dig the vine inlays on that series of Schecters. Just not my cup of tea....

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

Yeah I'm really diggin this one. Do you think $600 is a fair price for an old MINT Schecter like this one? I'm assuming this one is the older one made with greater quality. Is there a blue book for guitars? lol

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

Yeah, the C-1 Classic is incredible. I was ready to get it, but didn't have the money for it, so I got a C-1 Plus instead.

To answer your second question, I think it'd sound better through the Spider II...though frankly, I don't really care for any of those amps. I think the Frontman's...well...horrible, while the Spider sounds too digital and weak. But that's just me.

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

One of the guys here at school plays one during performance classes and that thing has awesome sound. Not just for the price or for a Schechter, it has awesome sound period!!! We swap axes every now and again for giggles, and I really look forward to the chance to jam on it. I concur with scooter, play it at GC, but buy it through MF unless you can get the salesman to cut a deal. Not only do you get a better price online, but you get one MINT outta the box that NO ONE short of Schecter personnel have played.

Re: Schecter C1 CLASSIC

What about quality control? I usually wouldn't break the golden rule of "play it before you buy it"

Yeah, I know what you mean, but with corporate greed eliminating the relationship between salespersons and the customer, I hardly ever throw my pennies to GC. I have tried to make reasonable deals with them, and they will not budge on price. If I have to pay a fixed price on goods, I will pay to the lowest bidder!

On the flip-side, I have purchased gear from a store that I actually spent a couple of hours test driving only to have it fail within a few days. So even then, there are no gaurantees other than the warranty available on most gear regardless of where it is purchased.

The bottom lines is that it is all advice, go with what makes you the most comfortable.
