Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

That makes two of us!

Ever since I got the Suhr Doug Aldrich in the neck of my Swing now the DMZ Fast Track 1 in the neck of my Strat sounds so, little.

I REALLY like the Crazy 8 at the bridge and can't wait to also fix up the other two pickups as well (I still have the stock Fender at the middle).

BUT, before being able to do anything I fist have to know how this one sounds (so as to see if it'll go at the neck, the middle, both or either :9:)

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I'm somewhat interested, how much is it to get one of these over to England?

.........and they waited patiently but as time went on and their beards grew longer and longer, their numbers diminishished.
First it was the senior members that passed away.
Then some of the others.
and finally the junior members also began to pass away, leaving only a handful of the devoted clinging in silent desperation to their hope........

MAn you're killin' me! :9:
Maricela is working with Seymour to get you a price quote. So sorry for the delay.

That's great news Evan.
Do you think that once everything is finalized we could have a little run-down of the pickup and its' construction or even some basic description/review of its' tone etc?

What I'm hoping for is to be able to match it in the neck with the Crazy 8 at the bridge and if I'm REALLY lucky, put a 2nd one at the middle as well.

One Strat, all SDUGF pickups in it :D

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I just saw the first completed prototype. It's pretty cool looking. I've never seen anything quite like it before.

We're going to start sound testing shortly.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I have been letting this pickup build ruminate and stayed on the sidelines but it is time to jump in!

I just switched back to Fat 50s in my JB Strat and would love one of these for the bridge! Please let us know when it is time to order it and all the details...

Once more, thanks to everyone at SD for a cool new pickup, AGAIN!

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

Well, I just heard the first soundtest (with Seymour, MJ and Frank Falbo) and you guys have a winner on your hands. They still have to tweak the P-90 tone a bit, but the Strat tone is right there.

Here's what you're getting: a Custom Shop tapped single coil that uses polished Strat magnets on three strings along with a bar magnet and screw pole pieces on the other three strings. In order to get the right height profile, the bobbin is hand fabricated from two cut down humbucker bobbins. The bottom plate is from the Parallel Axis Stack.

In full output mode, it sounds like a P-90. In tapped mode, it sounds like a Strat.

Price: $110 each. Two or more, $100 each. Plus shipping. CA residents pay sales tax.
Rules: You must have been a SDUGF member prior to June 16, 2008 to take advantage of this offer. This price is intended for SDUGF members only. Please do not retail these pickups to make a profit.
Limit: Six pickups per member.

I'll copy this information to the first post of the thread.

Question: Would you want two versions? One for bridge and one for neck / middle?

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

Wow, thank you for taking the time to tell us and THANK you for giving us this chance!

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

(Heh, you posted while I was writing this.)

THIS... SOUNDS... AMAZING!!!

Price: Did you mean two or more, $100 each?
Question: If that would be possible then we would TRULY be thankful!

I for one would love to put it in the neck and if possible, the middle with the Crazy 8 at the bridge while there are a good deal of other forum members like Jeremy that intended to put it at the bridge of their SSS Strats.
If two versions would be possible then that would make it truly awesome!
(now that I think about it, I might even be tempted to order one bridge model as well for future use)

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

Sweet! My plan is to wire it to a push/pull for the tap and make the pot a blender as well - so I can have full bridge, full bridge blended, tapped bridge, and tapped bridge blended! Works for me!!

How are we going to place orders for the pickup? How do we make payment?
In-Tone-quiring minds want to know!

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

When is the deadline to get in orders brother Skopp?

Sounds wonderful BTW! I am stoked!!!

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I don't know yet. We haven't officially started taking them. But I think it's all going to start to happen soon.

Of all the Forum pickups, the most R&D went into this one.
