Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

i doubt there will be an official tele version but im sure the custom shop can make something like that for you.

the pup is a real single coil so it is succeptable to 60 cycle hum but shouldnt be any noisier than a fender single coil

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

Anyone know if a tele bridge version of this will be available? Besides a Hot Rails I haven't found anything else I like an I have tried almost every one of the lil humbuckers and Dimarzio ones.

If not then anyone know of a tele bridge that will accept normal strat single coils? Someone on the forum was selling a red tele body that had that kind of bridge and they had a Stat JB Jr. in the bridge.

im sure the cs will help u out, i gotta admit this in the neck with tele version that taps to a tele would be pretty sweet

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I think I will find a way to mount a strat pup in the tele bridge. If anyone knows of a place that sells a tele bridge that accepts strat single coils PM asap. Thanks.

Sucky illustration, but pretty much the idea of what I had seen here on someone's tele body for sale a few months ago. I'm sure someone must make a bridge like this...

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

IWhat guitars are you guys planning on putting this thing in?

Will be ordering all three pickups.
For now the neck and middle will for certain go to my 2000 MiM Maple/Maple/Alder Strat while for the bridge it's going to be a toss-up between last year's Crazy 8 which is there right now and the bridge StraBro 90.

I've been meaning to either return this one to SSS or get another one.
If I feel the StraBro fits there better then it'll go there and the Crazy 8 will go to the new one.

If I still like the Crazy 8 better then I'll probably put the StraBro 90 in the bridge of the new one (whenever I get it/build it).
In this scenario I might be tempted to try the other two in the new guitar as well, see where I like them better and get a new neck and middle for the guitar that doesn't get selected.

How's that sound? :)

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

Is the demo video coming soon?? I'm really excited about this pickup, but I do kind of want to hear it to see if it will be a good match in my guitar(s).

Thanks!

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

For me, it's a toss up between ordering a complete set for my Stat or a middle position StraBro90 to wedge between a P-rails set.
If I just get the middle position version I'm thinking of giving it its own vol/tone and tap switch, and using a Gibson-style three way switch to choose between the P-rails set, the StraBro90, or both.

I'll probably just go with the middle version for now.

i searched....hard. Didnt find squat. Best bet...have callaham make you you a custom one.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I'm not sure the space on the sides for the new screw holes is available.

You might have to make a wider Tele bridge.

I've got an audio demo on the way, maybe monday if not over the weekend. I'm not in the office today, so I can't do it today. These are fantastic pickups-need I say more?

AWESOME!

Well, you don't per se NEED to say more but, and especially after this remark, every tidbit of information to keep us sated until we have them in out hands would certainly be greatly appreciated!!! :9:
(Technical specs while welcomed isn't what I have in mind.
Wood combos that they seem to favor the most and/or possible wiring schemes however I think would be much more appreciated :D)

I am used to saving money when I am not in immediate need of them but this is the first time I'm actually happy of having saved for this beforehand :D

Can't be done.

Not without routing the guitar and getting a wider bridge plate.

The place where the screws would be on the outside edge, that's right smack on the edge or folds (if vintage style) of the bridge. The plate would need to be maybe 1/2" wider if not more to accommodate...

Plus notches would need to be cut on the sides of the existing route... and then you'd need to retool the pickguard as well...

Agreed. Given the work required to do that, it might be easier to attempt to mount the strat pickup to a tele pickup baseplate, so the screw holes are in the right spot.

I plan on just putting this pickup in the neck spot on my telecaster, and after seeing what its like, choosing a bridge pickup that matches.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

I don't want to speak for MJ, but I'm nearly positive she could build you this pickup on a Tele baseplate. I would have no idea of the cost differential, but I'm sure it could be done.

Re: SDUG New Forum Pickup

Oh yeah, it works and OH YEAH!

I can very clearly differentiate between all 5 positions and naturally, both tapped (Strat) and full (P-90).
When you said MJ had nailed them both you weren't kidding!!!

I REALLY can't wait to see how it'll sound like in my strat.
BTW, this is one pickup where the tapped tone REALLY isn't just there for the ride!

It really sounds AMAZING all in its' own right and the P-90 tones, really full and lush like a P-90 should sound like but not really that rude like say a P-Rails but rather more sweet and gentle sounding, I think closer to a Phat Cat (but the tone I think isn't copying this or any other P-90 but is rather being its' own thing).

A home run indeed!!!
