SDUG Ultimate Axe: Asian Awesome Entries

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe: Asian Awesome Entries

Know john the owner over at Funky Munky well and also know the story on those guitars. John helped me big time with the ST-3 I had that Washburn screwed up. You are quite correct in those guitars were built to the USA specs and are exceptional.
I also "agree" on the old SE TA's being cool. Here is a photo of mine I bought new in 77 from 1978. In the end it had a built SD 455 and was set up with a 2:41 gear to run the REAL MT Cannonball in 1980. She would incinerate the tires from a 55 roll would cruse 160 all day with the air on and was a dead honest 200MPH street car on the top side that still manged to run consistent mid 13's with that gear! Fastest car by far in the old Ala TA Association that is now the POC for Bama. I had the Pontiac SICKNESS back in those days. Jim Butler ( http://www.jbp-pontiac.com/ ) drove over and bought me out in the late 80's if that tells you anything.

awesome! i had a 1979 trans am and it was my baby. was one of a special run that had 4 wheel disc brakes and a hurst 4 speed. it only had a 400 tho and not the 455. I put an edelbrock torker manifold on her and a holly 650 double pumper carb and headers. i stupidly sold it.

Oh man! Ok, there's so much win in this thread already that I am thinking that we're gonna need two heats (at least). Whaddayathink Ace?

Can I enter my B plate Kramer Pacer Imperial? It was made in Japan by ESP assembled in NJ.

Hallmark 60 Custom - all woodwork is done in South Korea; paint, hardware, and electronics are all done in USA.

Here's my '59 Korina Epiphone explorer made in Korea. A couple years years ago I slapped Sperzel styled locking tuners, Dragonfire Gold Screamers, bell knobs, and a Gibson fine tuning stoptail on it.

ESP didn't start making the bodies and necks for Kramer until around 85-86. Definitely not vintage yet. The B plates were made in NJ, bodies by Sports in CT.

First, let me say that is awesome.

Second, I do not know that I will allow that....

Can I enter these Ace? Both the same anyway and I have no other pics, I will add they are not mine but the guitars I bought many years ago and gave to my sons on their 16th birthdays. No worries if they don't count......

Lots of choices for me here.

My old '60's Japanese 12 string:

I might have to go with the 12 string. Not because it is the best, but because it is probably the most striking to the average Joe.

You sir are the World's Greatest Dad. Someone should get you a coffee mug or tee shirt to that effect. I have been lusting for one of those for years and those two are stunning. Awesome finishes and the binding is beautiful.

Yeah, those Yammies are slick. Played an old 2000 once - boat anchor but righteous sustain and tone.

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe: Asian Awesome Entries

This looks like it'll be one of the more interesting races this year.
