SDUG Ultimate Axe: Asian Awesome Entries

I have two, on the left is a made in Korea PRS SE Singlecut currently modded with Grover Mini Rotomatic locking tuners, Graphtech locking tuners, Seymour Duncan Tripleshots and P-Rails.

On the right is a made in China Epi Special P-90 guitar which I will probably leave stock because it's really not worth the effort on such a cheap guitar. Well unless the tuners crap out or something, then I'll replace the nut and get locking tuners. It was setup very decently out of the box though and it's very resonant, a joy to play.

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe: Asian Awesome Entries

Weird, they didn't show for me as code on the forum but I could open them just fine as links from the browser (firefox). However they show up just fine from tapatalk...

Edit: ok, they show up just fine now from dolphin so either it was fixed on its own or it is a firefox thing...

EDIT2: Found the culprit, it's a firefox Add-On called Disconnect. It appears you got your images through a link that passes through Facebook, reporting each user that accesses them (i.e. every user that views this thread) so it was disabling the tracking and thus, the images.
Although not a technical issue per se, there are privacy concerns with that approach which is why it was blocked. Incidentally, the add-on "Facebook Disconnect" would also block it for the exact same reason.
I would still suggest trying the original links from photobucket instead:

my 1991 burny fb-80z. snatched it for 185$ shipped, neck-dives like crazy tho.

Nice; those are not very common, if memory serves. If it has those chunky banjo tuners, it's probably the reason for the neck dive.

I can't enter it. It's already won in a category.

That's right, I forgot. Well, that's why you have two, so in case one wins a category, you always have a spare to enter elsewhere ;).

Here's my Ibanez RG420FBZ, built in the Cort Indonesia Factory, in January of 2011. It has a mahogany body, figured bubinga top, with a 3-piece maple neck, and rosewood board. Beautiful guitar, that I want to upgrade with an undecided set of Duncans.

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe: Asian Awesome Entries

well, Ill put two up, and Aceman, can decide if either is worthy of going further. Ace, you cool with that? Only reason is the photos of my Charvel are not as good.

Here is my 1980s Burny (approx 82) (need to get a new camera and better pics. These pics were with the Zakk Wylde Emgs, guitar now has Bare Knuckles Rebel Yells in it)

Looks like Bunny.. haha

And my 2010 Charvel

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe: Asian Awesome Entries

I believe it was 07, maybe 08 and the Dime wave still had quite a bit of momentum. Washburn, though it had parted ways with him before his death, was the real deal in a lot of people's minds. However, the 90s and early 2000s 333s flat out sucked with crappy construction, hardware, and electronics. After his death, Boogie Street and Funky Munky Music did their own high end import runs based on the 333s but spec'd tighter. People still complained about the incorrect body shape (333s and 3s are visibly different) as well as the different neck joint. The next runs, right before they gave up, were still imports but based on the Dime 3 specs. This is one of a kind, and if I sound proud of that, I am. The rest of the run never happened, though it should have. This thing rips with the best of them and has the most comfortable neck I've got, starting with a pretty sharp V down by the low frets and changing to a medium-thin C up around 8 or 9. I added the gold knobs, cheapo pinstriping and TA decal to break up the acre of black...

...and because Burt Reynolds and SE Trans Ams are awesome.

The only real thing I changed was the Dimebucker out to a Dean Baker Act I had laying around, though I may give it another shot. All the rest-the Washburn branded Schaller Floyd, Grovers, Duncan 59n-all stock.

May I present the only maple necked/boarded Blackjack you'll ever see: The Turd Ferguson.

Ace, I realize the pic sucks but if it catches your fancy I'll get a better one Tuesday when I get off duty.

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe: Asian Awesome Entries

Rethinking selling "tater" so I will post her here and throw it into the mix on this one.
Mr. Potato a Korean handbuilt CS neck through from a small shop. Ash body with a five piece mahogany and maple neck through the body. This is a NICE 24 fret 25.5 scale super strat.
Right now it's stock but the plan is to replace the POS Floyd knockoff they used with a nice Goto Floyd and gut the electronics. Pickups are still not decided but I am leaning a JB or Alt 8 in the bridge and an Alnico II Pro set of singles ( have the singles on hand so---).
Should be a KILLER when finished and is quite playable as she is now.

Know john the owner over at Funky Munky well and also know the story on those guitars. John helped me big time with the ST-3 I had that Washburn screwed up. You are quite correct in those guitars were built to the USA specs and are exceptional.
I also "agree" on the old SE TA's being cool. Here is a photo of mine I bought new in 77 from 1978. In the end it had a built SD 455 and was set up with a 2:41 gear to run the REAL MT Cannonball in 1980. She would incinerate the tires from a 55 roll would cruse 160 all day with the air on and was a dead honest 200MPH street car on the top side that still manged to run consistent mid 13's with that gear! Fastest car by far in the old Ala TA Association that is now the POC for Bama. I had the Pontiac SICKNESS back in those days. Jim Butler ( http://www.jbp-pontiac.com/ ) drove over and bought me out in the late 80's if that tells you anything.

Jon's a good guy and that's a SAH-WHEET TA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I own a 73 Formula (shocker, right) but everything came together on the 77/78 SE TAs, imho.
