SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Category 2; Fender Strats

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Category 2; Fender Strats

Lotsa awesome strats here already but I might as well add my own, not too many chances to show her off these days:

stratbody.jpg

Up for your consideration a 2000 MiM Fender Standard (once) Stratocaster.
Maple neck/fretboard, Alder body.
The pickups are all SDUGF, that's a Crazy 8 in the bridge and two StraBro90s in the middle and neck (hence the switch that taps/splits all three of them).
Master volume with a push pull to activate the bridge+neck combo, master tone and a SWEET Wilkinson VSV400 trem. What's not showing are a set of Sperzel tuners.

She ain't worth the money I've put in her but she nevertheless is special to me.

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Category 2; Fender Strats

phred nice guitar but it does not qualify only FENDER Strats.

I'm not feeling it. I really need to see Fender Neck and Body at least.

A little graphic here or hardware upgrade there, sure...But replacement neck????? Grrrrr.

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Category 2; Fender Strats

This is my favorite strat. it is a 2010 fender sunrise orangeflake. The bridge is an A2 59/custom hybrid and the 2 singles are ssl5s. it completly kicks ass imho.

You CAN enter guitars owned by other forum bros. I will check ownership, and of course, they could enter another axe which would disqualify your entry on their behalf.

2012 Black Paisley (bought new by yours truly pretty much the day they came out).
I added parchment plastic all the way around.
I also put in three pickups: Suhr SSH (bridge), DMZ True Velvet Neck (middle), And DMZ SDS-1 (neck).
I also have push/pulls that do coil splitting and neck-pickup-on.
It'll get locking vintage-style tuners and a better bridge eventually.

2005 MIM Standard
I installed Fender CS '54 pickups.
The wiring is my own design that gives you B+M series, and neck-pickup-on options.
Sperzel nickel lockers custom ordered with the small buttons.
Bladerunner vibrato
Neck finish (originally matte) has been polished to a shine.
Body finish (originally super glossy) has been dulled to semi-matte.
I'm the original owner.

1995 MIJ '50's style
Same wiring as my green MIM above (B+M in series, neck on), but with 500K pots
B&M pickups are an original matched set from a '65 Duo-Sonic (one of which was wound by AY)
Neck pickup is a vintage style pickup of unknown origin.
The rest is stock. (All the mods were just performed by me about three or four months ago.)
Inherited from the original owner (my dad) when he died.

'85 MIJ '50's style
EMGs (on there when I bought it in about '95 or so).
Schallers (also on there when I got it).
Blocked vibrato and 18V battery setup in the spring cavity.
My first guitar (I'm the second owner).
Neck is bare, and the head is signed by Dick Dale, my first guitar hero.

Partscaster (all Fender parts)
Original '59 body, "transitional" 9-hole guard, knobs, B&M pickup covers, and pots.
'84 AVRI neck.
'84 AVRI pickups (the best sounding "pure Strat" pickups I've ever heard, short of a few vintage guitars).
Refinished about four times. I will be restoring the paint properly some day in the not-too-distant future. I've decided that I'm gonna just keep that neck, instead of eventually tracking down a period-correct neck for it, like I used to want to do.
In the family since the mid '80's (put together from parts by my step dad back then). It has actually been officially mine for about 10 or 12 years now.

Ben - jamin and Itsa - PICK ONE and ONLY ONE to actually enter. I mean, I COULD choose, but you may not agree with my choice. I'm sure Itsa would not....
