SDUG Ultimate Axe - Category 3; Les Paul Copies

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe - Category 3; Les Paul Copies

Is my Warmoth not Les Paul enough? Should I pull it and enter it in the build category?

I don't know what that is. Hang tight on it. It needs to be in something, but this isn't it.

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe - Category 3; Les Paul Copies

Sure of what "on the Warmoth"? Does that mean they are eligible for this category or not?

Bob, can you make a clear statement on whether a Warmoth, Mighty Mite, USGC or any other parts LP is eligible for this category or not. There does seem a need to ensure that at the start of each one of these threads, that there are clear guidelines of what will and will not be considered eligible. The same would go for re-stating the rules on number of entries per member, and the number of photos to be submitted. Perhaps it would be rather easier for us to follow, and you to select from, were that the case.

Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Korean, about ten years old.
Started out as a vintage sunburst.
I stripped most of the finish off, including the tint on the top that made it a burst.
Gibson Burstbucker 2 & 3, CTS pots, TonePros bridge, bone nut, Schaller straplocks.

That finish just makes me drool! Dude, if you get nominated, you're getting my vote. Simple, elegant, classy... and with those burstbuckers, I bet she's one hell of a tone-machine!

Thats awful nice. For certain one to watch, but I think its been mentioned before, IF the Crustaceans Les Paul is entered here, its all over but the crying, for me anyway.

Tough call here but these really do the LP thing for me.

So broad an entry field.

OK, I guess this goes here but it doesn't quite feel like the right category.

I will of course post this.... My favorite guitar. :)

It's a 2007 Tokai LS75/85 (Unclarity on exact model). Proper MIJ. Unlike so many other LP copies, this is a proper old school honking Les Paul style guitar. Got a thick '59 Rounded profile and a heavy body. Magnificent sound and look - very different, as its a Standard in cream white. I really like that it's a proper road warrior. I dislike pretty guitars that are case queens - they are made to be used, this one has it's fair share of scratches, dings and what not. But to hell with all those imperfections - it plays like butter and feels just right. Pickups are a set of Alnico II Pro Slash's - no A8 mojo here, just plain old ballsy PAFs. A true working mans guitar, and it looks damn good imo :)

Enjoy :)

I'm sure on the Warmoth...may need to save that for the "build category"

SOme parts strats may fall in there too

I know this is your contest and you are entitled to make the rules and so forth ... but some of these criteria of yours seem completely arbitrary and illogical.

Rather, you are one of the few dudes that really "gets" me.

That Monaco in TV Yellow is Really Sweet! Which of those is your official entry?

While he has said one entry per person , Ace has stated if you submit more than one it becomes his choice.
