Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
This category is all about age discrimination. MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be 30 years old or more. That means only axes that were produced BEFORE JANUARY 1, 1983. There will be a bias towards older.

- NO REISSUES of 50's guitars, or any other decade for that matter! Real 50's guitars are welcome.
- No Roadworn BS. Actually being road worn from 30+ years on the road - excellent.

You may be required to show proof of vintage.

PLEASE POST YEAR OF BIRTH!!!!

The most mojo I got... my '59 ES-225TD...

Unfortunately, most of the parts aren't as old as they're supposed to be. :/

Top one is a 1965 Hagstrom I. I had a II back in the day & had to sell it in order to buy another guitar. This guitar is pretty cool.

second one is a 1968 SG standard. I was with my first teacher when he bought it & I made him promise me that if he sold it I would get first dibs. About a year later I got it. It has been refretted about a year ago and it plays and sounds incredible...

What is it?

Its a 1965 Hagstrom I. Hagstroms were very poular back in the early 60's and they were cheap. I had a Hagstrom II back in the day which was a poor mans Strat! This one I bought about a year ago and its been refretted. The neck pickup is Killer the bridge pickup is a bit too thin for my liking. It has some unique controls that make it sound pretty cool though. Its a fun guitar

When I bought this guitar from a guy in Chicago fourteen years ago, it was already old enough to make the cut.
Here is my 1967 Japanese classical.

I think I'd like to enter this unusual specimen:

What kind of guitar is it?

I have read that these were built in Pennsylvania in the 70's. Figured maple neck with mahogany and rosewood strips, inlay-less bound ebony fretboard, rosewood headstock overlay, plexiglass bolt-on body, active bass and treble controls, originally came with Dimarzio Super Distortion/PAF combo, but now has a set of Dimarzio EJ Customs in it and sounds superb.

The only other guitar I have that is that old is this one. My first electric, purchased new the year they came out, after I'd learned and practiced on a acoustic for a couple of years.

As always - photo quality is not an 'official' factor, but do not be confused, your ability to visually portray the awesome of your guitar certainly plays a role.

Bottom line: Billy G's Pearly Gates would do just fine laying on a ratty couch. A random 1980 Ibby better be Ansel Adams quality photo to have a chance.

It's complex formula, but you get the idea.
