I like it as long as we replace that last line from "but we first and foremost want this to work as best as possible" to but we first and foremost desire the integrity of the sound to be kept intact, i.e. have it sound like both a strat and a p-90, more than we desire a hum cancelling element 'Cause "work as best as possible" could be construed to be as quiet as possible Methinks.
You always know the best way to put things don't you?RESPOND PEOPLE!!!! We need to know if there's enough of a demand to get the forum discount!!!!
Finally, some action!!!
Oh, btw, I think I have it:
"We, the people of the SDUGF for the summer of 2008 request a neck/middle pickup for a Strat that will be able to switch between a traditional Strat SC and a P90-voiced one.
If there is a way to properly do this and have some kind of noise reduction/cancellation in any of the modes all the better, but we first and foremost desire for the most faithful recreation of these two distinct (and distinctly different) voices".
I think this one says it all!![]()
OK, how about this one:
How we'll present it to Seymour Duncan:
"We, the people of the SDUGF for the summer of 2008 request a neck/middle pickup for a Strat that will be able to switch between a traditional Strat SC and a P90-voiced one.
If there is a way to properly do this and have some kind of noise reduction/cancellation in any of the modes all the better, but we first and foremost want this to work as best as possible". (Or something to that effect)
How about that?
I think this should cover both the ones that voted as well as most (?) that were displeased with the results.
So?
Which is why I'm posting this to see how many will show interestWe still need to make sure there are enough people to pull the money trigger.
We would compromise our ability to suggest brother pickups to Seymour Duncan if we screw this up and SD takes a huge loss.
Now THERE'S an idea!I am not a part of the demand-curve for this thing, but I suggest you list a final sticky thread in all forum rooms to see if people want this..![]()
Jeremy, if there was one poll that was 100% conclusive was what it should be which was a Neck/middle Strat pickup. We could repeat that poll but I'm betting it will result in the same way. The reason like I said is that more will want to use it in HSS than SSS situations (so as to better match a humbucker bridge).you lose me on two things. 1-neck/middle - like myself and a few others have stated it should be designed as a bridge pup that can work in the neck not vice versa 2 - humcancelling - tone should be the name of the game humcancelling shouldnt be a concern
What I say here is concentrate on the tone and if you can pull it off with some noise cancelation/reduction, all the better. But that isn't the primary concern. First and foremost we want the tone. What's wrong with that?...If there is a way to properly do this and have some kind of noise reduction/cancellation in any of the modes all the better, but we first and foremost desire for the most faithful recreation of these two distinct (and distinctly different) voices".

As for the noisecanceling, I don't get it. Do you actively WANT the 60Hz hum? Like I said:
