Seriously, no joke.

When I watched that video I felt like I was inside the mind of a madman. Someone locked up in an insane asylum so he wouldn't kill someone.

Seeing you have nightmares about the forum and claim it is affecting your mental well-being you are not anyone to comment on someone else's mental health. You really need to have your head checked out.

FWIW The founder of that band was a good friend of mine that died way too soon. He was also one of the kindest gentlest people I have ever known. I would appreciate you not disrespecting someone you know nothing about. And you say I am the negative one.

Anyway you slice and dice it, that's nightmare madman music. But if you like it, then by all means continue liking it.

I don't.

For as rebellious as rock music is supposed to be, there is a lot of conformity and guitar/amp/pickup/string/pedal shaming (if you are different) across all instruments, not just guitar. Forums are full of "of course this is the way it is done" close-mindedness which drives good people away who either think they are doing something wrong, or don't want to hang out with people that echo and reinforce their opinions in thread after thread.

I always appreciate someone doing something that hasn't been done. That's what my heroes did.

One of the reasons when I post about pedal use, I usually post “The generally accepted way/order is”. AND also am usually sure to add “Try it / do whatever er sounds best to you.

You don't have to either like it or listen to it.
My mother always used to say "I've never eaten a fast food hamburger." She would say it with a certain pride and I always responded with the question, "So, do you think that that makes you morally superior to someone who has, much less someone who enjoys them?"
I have yet to receive an answer.

There is so much bad in this thread. There are generalizations that are very closed minded. People are making assumptions about music they admittedly do not play or even enjoy. Saying Death Metal is high gain music with two-fingered chords is so off base and incorrect. Some death-metal players use very intricate chord inversions. The same can be said about hardcore players. Saying that the gain robs the player from nuance and texture could not be further from the truth. I am guessing some people do not have the ears to hear through the gain and hear the subtle harmonies. Here is a great example Stompbox, high-gain, and huge chords amazing harmony.

Nice!
Funny thing is, my band mates would say that it's too slow and has too much midrange with the guitar.

Maybe no answer means she doesn't think she's morally superior.

Maybe she doesn't want to put junk food into her body and have her body made from junk food.

Let's not conveniently forget the fact that everybody is entitled to an opinion.

If someone exclaims, "I hate vanilla ice cream! It's plain and boring!"

If someone else exclaims, "I hate chocolate ice cream! It sucks!"

If someone else exclaims, "I hate strawberry ice cream! It tastes like shit!"

Don't get all butthurt because someone doesn't like what you like.

There is no reflection on you personally because someone thinks this-or-that sucks.

Let's also not conveniently forget the fact that as people get older and more experienced, they have learned their preferences.

Let's also not conveniently forget that nobody alive likes everything; that is an impossibility. Everybody has things they dislike/hate.

And in matters of taste, that's just fine.
And personally, my favorite is mocha mint chocolate chip. With extra dark chocolate for the chips.

This is not a case of simply disliking a tone, genre, or style. This is a case of someone claiming all that subscribe to that genre are less of in some way and doing something wrong. Saying all high-gain guitarists lack tone is pretty harsh and insults half of the guitarists on the forum. Death metal guitarists play two-finger chords? Once again unnecessary and harsh.

I am not a big fan of country but would never slam my Tele playing brothers. I also hate dentist/doctor blues like Joe Bonnamasa but wouldn't slam someone for playing the style. It is not about liking or not liking the style it is about having respect for the person that chooses to play the style. We all think that what we are doing is the right way but don't forget it is not the only way.

Well, that was kind of the point of the story about my mom. She never ate a fast food burger, but she has no problem with Culver's fish sandwiches

The fastest cure for people that dis other styles as inferior is to challenge them to lean a song by a band that plays that style.
More often than not, at the very least they will come out of it with a greater appreciation for what goes into that style and it’s particularly challenges.

I watched the video demanic posted....I don’t care who you are, what they are doing requires skill....and a LOT of it.

Deranged? At the very least I should hope.
And Kreator puts on a hell of a show, even if they have slowed down a bit in the last few years.

Not many will get this but haven't we learned - Lean and guitars don't mix.
