I kind of like that "boomy" from my '59 in one respect. If I adjust the neck pickup's bass side so that the "boom" from that low E string is felt more than heard, I consider it an advantage when playing an amp with a smaller speaker and/or when playing Jazz. The trick to achieving this is to adjust the pole pieces on the other 5 strings closer to their respective string to offset the 6th. string's dominance. The '59 bridge in my Les Paul did not need a lot of tweaking to get in line with the neck pickup.

The downside is the potential for a boomy/bassy '59N in an LP. I wish that PU had less low end.
