SH-12 George Lynch Screamin Demon

Has anyone ever put this pup in a mahogany LP style guitar, set mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard? I'm really digging the sound that this pup has from sound clips I've listened to and on YouTube. Anyone?

I had a Screaming Demon in my Gibson L6-S, not quite the same as a L.P., probably closer to a S.G. but I loved the way it sounded in that guitar! I'd trade my sister to get that one back!!! Sellers remorse times 10!!!!44

tried one in an all mahogany set neck explorer:
- leads sing and bloom
- cleans are clear and shimmery especially with coil split
- as a mid gain rock & indie sort-of player I found power chords to be sort of weird with the Demon, too clear, a bit ice-e, felt like it took double the gain to get a decent fat rock power chord from it

I've only tried in Super Strats, but love it in everything I've thrown it in. Currently have it in a 1 piece Walnut Strat with a Mahogany neck+Rosewood board with a Gibson scale...wow! Also have it and the Lil Screamin Demon in a Basswood Strat with a Roasted Maple neck+Rosewood board...it is awesome as well!

Since the SH-12 has an output of 10K, thats lower output than the JB (16K), so Im thinking a '59 in the neck for a balanced set....What do you think......Trey, do you have a soundclip of the SH-12 on soundcloud?

I would not let the Output determine the selection...the Sh-12 has significantly less output than my Dimebucker but they pair up oh so well! That being said, my dad had a Wayne Charvel Monster guitar that was Mahogany with a JB in the bridge and a Lil '59 in the neck...and that combo was outstanding!

Unfortunately I do not–I only have a clips of the JB, Liquifire, and Gibson Ceramic Sets. I need to record some clips to get some tones up on there.

So sorry! The Dimebucker is in the Bridge with the Screamin Demon in the Neck. I have the Screamin Demon in the Bridge and Mid (lil SD) in my White Warmoth "Charvel" guitar.

Ha! Yeah, every Wayne my dad had (tried selling them for awhile for Wayne Charvel but when the economy tanked people were not looking for Hot Rod guitars to buy) was epic and played like butter. My favorite was a Swamp Ash body with a JB and Lil 59 as well...just pristine harmonics and voicing all up and down the neck!

ha! I've done that before...just recently dug up an old Phil Keaggy Crimson And Blue CD and now I want a Cherry burst Gibson Les Paul. lol

I ran a Demon with an SH-n in a Les Paul Studio for a while. It sounded good (not as good as my SG) and paired with the Jazz very well. I didn't have an issue with ice picky highs, but it was a very warm guitar. I mostly play hard rock, punk, alternative through a Mesa MkV or JCM 900. I ended up swapping this combo out for a Slash set I had in a different guitar, but I'm thinking about swapping back.

Not a problem....The GL SD seems to be brighter than the JB i have according to the videos I have watched on youtube.

I love both the JB and the SD...to me both are bright pickups but I would label the SD as more of a Strat-Bridge-like-brightness and the JB as just brighter overall but not with a Strat-like sound...personally. Both are awesome pickups but to me the JB can be a bit too much at times.

I later tried the Demon in my Explorer and felt it was a better fit, so it may wind up back in there since the Burstbuckers don't quite do it for me in that guitar.

Don't get me wrong, the JB is awesome! If you need power and authority in a lead I would put the JB up there as one of the best! But for my playing it tended to be just too much and the Screamin Demon seems to fit my playing better.

Agreed with the JB....Some songs at the church I look at a week in advanced since the JB guitar dont fit the style, so I would take my LP copy instead....

I may put the Screamin Demon in my Hamer V along with a 59/custom hybrid neck when it comes out and put the SD in my LP copy for the bridge and a '59 for the neck like I said earlier.....

That was my first Duncan pickup. I had the trembucker in my RG back in 97. It didn't sound too good with that bolt on basswood guitar. Too honky. Middy. I put it in a bolt on alder superstrat and it was much better. Nice high mid growl and singing leads.

Then like Nostalgic in post#2, I now have it on my epiphone les paul 100, which is a low price bolt on skinny les paul that is more like an SG. But unlike other epiphone les paul, this one is a heavy slab of one piece wood whatever it is, Nato or asian mahogany. And in the neck, the trembucker absolutely rules. Throaty, growly, singing. I can even play galloping riffs on the neck.

This was my experience as well, in an Epiphone Explorer. It handled a ton of gain really well, but I don't play with a ton of gain, so I didn't get along real well with it.

When you say "ton of gain" how much are you referring to. I'm gonna be running through a Fender Mustang Floor unit and I know for a fact that it can get LOUD.

I am not disputing their scenario because we are all looking for different tones and reactions from our gear, but I never had this issue. I've not had any issues with my SH-12 which is why I basically switched all of my JBs to SH-12s.

When you say "ton of gain" how much are you referring to. I'm gonna be running through a Fender Mustang Floor unit and I know for a fact that it can get LOUD.

The Demon is a lower output pickup, you will need to turn the gain up a bit when compared to a hotter pickup.
