I have a Demon that came stock in an old Jackson. To me, it's a very open pickup, not as hot as my DiMarzio Super Distortions, but still able to drive my amp well. My amp is a custom build that mimics a Marshall JTM fairly well and I can get the Demon to drive it pretty well without pedals as well. I was running last night at worship rehearsal through my Wampler SLOstortion and it seemed pretty tight and clear under that type of gain.

I can't wait to put that SD in my guitars now. May be Christmas before I get one in them, but it will be worth the wait.

The trick with the Demon is the wood. If the wood of the guitar isn't right, then it won't sound good. My guitar that has it is full mahogany, and it sounds great, but it is an extremely bright guitar. I would definitely give it a shot. With that pup I can do the heavy metal music I love along with worship arts and blues music. The thing also has a pretty good country tone, if that's your kind of thing.

The guitar is a mahogany body with a maple top and a mahogany neck. So it should be quite awesome. I really like how there are a good bit of worship guitarists in this forum.

everytime I read these threads about the SD, I think Man, I need to try one!! Never have played through one. If I were to try one tho, would be in a superstrat.

In a classic LP, SD has thicker mid than in an alder guitar, IME. I guess the mahog contributes to that. The rest of awesome qualities remain. I don't need Jazz, '59 and A2P because SD gives all qualities I want from those pickups. I can play jazz, blues, rock to metal stuffs with it.

My Ibanez has a really bright, quick attack (set neck, mahogany with a maple top and a string thru trem) and even the A2 Pro neck pickup sounds bright in it.

The Demon crunches like crazy for rhythm, but it kinda stinks for leads. A bit too pingy and clanky with not enough mids for fat single notes like say a JB.

I have no doubt it would be a better fit in a warmer instrument.
I have an Alnico 8 magnet I haven't bothered with, but it should fix things up quickly if I ever bother putting it in the Demon.

Just put your alnico 8 in the Demon and you will be in heaven !

I never could get along with it in my Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus. It just seemed too dry or something with no oomph.

What you think about this setup. Screamin Demon in the bridge and a Pearly Gates in the neck? Should be about the right volume difference when switching between the two.

My bad, it's in the neck. Never tried it in the bridge of mahog LP. Like it in HS mahog body/all maple neck superstrat with STKS-4 in the neck though.

I just ordered a demon to go in the neck of a new HH Tele I am building, with an EL Diablo in the bridge. (Magnet rail version, not OG)

Why put a SD in the neck, it's recommended for the bridge position for the optimal sound and tone?

Because it sounds good there and pairs well with higher output pickups in the bridge.

I wanted to try it in the neck as I have heard lots of great clips. I previously owned one and it was not my favorite in a bridge position. It was good, but not my cup of tea. I think it will match my el diablo well without having to spring for an el diablo neck from the cs.

What type of music were you playing usually when you had it in the bridge? I'm looking for a good '80s rock tone from my bridge pickup and a good warm bluesy tone from my neck.

A lot of stuff, but the bigger thing IMO was it was an SG that was remarkably picky, and I was trying to make it sound like a les paul. It just would not have worked because I didn't understand at that point I was trying to do the impossible. I needed a neck pickup to pair with an el diablo and it seemed like a good option.
