My guitar is due for a string change soon and I'm considering top wrapping the strings. What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing it this way? Anything I should know before I do it?

Dude either do it or don't. This is too much of a preference (i.e. personal taste) for me to say "yes" or "no". If you're curous, try it.

It's not a monumental decision; simply try it. If you like it, great. If you don't, you can always go back to the 'traditional' way at your next string change.

Wow! I wonder if anyone has ever tried it. The string angle would probably be really high and you would probably need some low action with it too.

I did that once. The strings are considerably more stiff.

wouldnt the bridge have a tendecny to snap out? because the strings would be pulling it up?? i was actually just thinking about that, and wondering what would happen.

Check out a 1952 Les Paul. . . they're 'bottom wrapped.' The big problem is that you can't palm mute comfortably.

The guy who owns that nice '59 Lester up the page a bit told me that the best reason for top wrapping is that the straighter string angle between bridge and tailpiece makes it a more comfortable place to rest your hand. As always, YMMV.

I don't see a huge diff b-tween the two... so I tend to load them the usual way.
