Hey guys.
I've had my John Spina modded Vox 847 wah for a few months now, but haven't posted a review because I haven't had a chance to try the Wah with either my Orange AD30 or my JCM800 (my main gigging amps) until today
1st off i'd like to say............... THIS WAH SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
I started off using the wah with a clean sound on the Orange using the 100K 'preset' (Clyde McCoy wah) that John marked on the pedal for me and it sounded very nice indeed. The sweep of the wah on this setting is quite 'contained' so that most of the sweep of the wah happens in the last 1/2 of the wahs path. I find this setting to be very vocal sounding and it also has a great frequency range from toe up to toe down
The other 'presets' on the pedal are the same values to those that Teese (66K) and Crybaby/Vox (33K) use in their wahs. I find that the sweep in the 33k and 66k is more gradual than that of the 100k setting, which is like the Crybaby that I had before.
All in all, I love the sound of this wah, and I can't see me ever needing another wah pedal
Feel free to ask if anyone has any other questions, although I'm sure Lew, Curly and any other users of Johns wahs could answer them better than I could
