(Small) Review of John Spina Modded Wah

Hey guys.

I've had my John Spina modded Vox 847 wah for a few months now, but haven't posted a review because I haven't had a chance to try the Wah with either my Orange AD30 or my JCM800 (my main gigging amps) until today :)

1st off i'd like to say............... THIS WAH SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I started off using the wah with a clean sound on the Orange using the 100K 'preset' (Clyde McCoy wah) that John marked on the pedal for me and it sounded very nice indeed. The sweep of the wah on this setting is quite 'contained' so that most of the sweep of the wah happens in the last 1/2 of the wahs path. I find this setting to be very vocal sounding and it also has a great frequency range from toe up to toe down :)

The other 'presets' on the pedal are the same values to those that Teese (66K) and Crybaby/Vox (33K) use in their wahs. I find that the sweep in the 33k and 66k is more gradual than that of the 100k setting, which is like the Crybaby that I had before.

All in all, I love the sound of this wah, and I can't see me ever needing another wah pedal :)

Feel free to ask if anyone has any other questions, although I'm sure Lew, Curly and any other users of Johns wahs could answer them better than I could :)

Craig...Cool review...The 33k Q setting is the current value for the Vox 847 and Crybabys...Older Crybabys in most cases, also used the 33k...The Vox 848 Clyde reissue uses the 100k and so did alot of the original Clydes of the late 60s....Teese likes that 68k value and I've seen those values in several of his wahs....The Fulltone wahs also use the 33k value...I Like the 100k setting the best..This setting just seems to be the most vocal and accented overall on the pot...
