So many new amps, which one?

First of all, this is a tough year financially, but even still I usually move stuff around yearly as to afford something new....guitar-wise or amp-wise.

Out of all the new amps....

1. Marshall YJM100. Possibly one of the greatest Marshall amps ever made. From the clips and specs, it's the 2011 winner.

2. The new Vox Night Train 50. Looks amazing and is very promising.

3. Marshall Class 5 head. I'm not sure yet. A low wattage Marshall head that I need to try with a 412 and OD pedal before I'm convinced, but I know it looks great. One thing is for sure, it'll be a great match for my Marshall 1960AHW cab, and be a great low wattage plexi type amp head.

4. All the Egnater Tweakers. The low wattage Tweaker has already passed my test. It's a great 6V6 amp, and it matches my Bogner cabs. But, the new high wattage 6L6 and KT-88....(especially the KT-88) versions are awesome.

5. Then, you've got serious amps that cost money, and the 65 Amps are the top of the heap. Dan Boul is one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet, and he's no joke at making amps. But they don't give them away!

Speaking of top of the heap and expensive....Bogner Panama, Mephisto, and everything else they make.

Which amps are drawing your attention this year?

That Marshall YJM, classic looks with a modern twist. If I could I'd buy 2.... both for my boys!

For me I'd like the Panama....I'd happily play that all day. I really dig the 65 amps stuff... maybe a 'lil Elvis or the London.

The Egnater Tweaker 40 - and it's a funny thing, because I don't really like to tweak. However, this amp comes in the right size and wattage and just looks pretty interesting.

Re: So many new amps, which one?

It's supposed to be the same preamp as the original tweaker. This thing's gonna trounce the Haze 40 if it can run EL34s (like the original tweaker can). I expect it to give the HRDx a run for it's money as well.

Re: So many new amps, which one?

Nothing necessarily out of the new offerings ...... I'll take a Matcless Clubman, please.

Re: So many new amps, which one?

I hope the YJM amp is more reliable than the Slash 1.

My mate had to send his back after 2 days :banghead:

I don't think the HRDx is a major player anymore...

I'm pretty excited about the new Vox Night Train, but the Vox dealer here really likes to inflate the price... so I can't really consider it as an option.

Re: So many new amps, which one?

part of me likes the YJM but i think my next amp will be the 50w 5150III mini.

Re: So many new amps, which one?

No interest from me, thanks. I just paid for my Hayseed 30, and it'll get here in a couple of weeks. :D

Re: So many new amps, which one?

I snatched up a Laney Cub 10 brand new for $180 ($249 street). It is a sweet 2*6V6 2*12AX7, all tone, no frills. Sh!t speaker easily remedied

I have my eyes peeled for a Tweaker head that someone decides to flip for cheap to fund their next GAS attack. No urgency, just waiting for the right deal

Re: So many new amps, which one?

I do like the idea of the Tweaker 40 and the bigger NT seems decent but nothing this NAMM really made me go, "Wow! I need that!"

Re: So many new amps, which one?

... still relatively unimpressed by the YJM... features-wise it's right up my alley (a high-gain, NMV plexi) but the clips on The YooToob don't make me want to go rob the local "medical marijuana clinic" (aka dah drug dealah on dah coenah) so I can purchase one just yet... :bling: ... j/k...

Re: So many new amps, which one?

Of all the ones listed, I'm definitely digging the YJM and the Panama. I don't really have a use for the YJM, so it'd no doubt be the Panama if I was going to dump some money into a new amp.

But between my back issues (hernated disks) and my dog's ACL issues (had surgery on one leg, might need the other done -- $3K EACH), I think I'll just have to sit-out the GAS deal this year. But I gave into it so much last year that I think I can live with the cool stuff I ended-up with. ;)

Re: So many new amps, which one?

Friedman Marsha has my interest. But the funds will probably never be there............
