So you get the call of a lifetime...

So you get the call of a lifetime from the management of your favorite band. One of the guitar players is unable to tour the upcoming final leg of these 85 stadium shows to button up their big world tour. The final leg kicks off in two weeks and you need to build a rig with this criteria from the band. You have access to all the gear you would want or need but you have some limitations and boundaries on what you can get...(All paid for by the band of course). The guitar player you are temporarily replacing used a certain amount of everything for their rig and you must do the same as them quantity wise. Here is the list used and amounts of the things you have to work with. You will be picked up within the hour to go shopping and begin building the rig with your tech for the tour. Rehearsals are in 3 days. Here is what you need to buy.

5 electric guitars
1 acoustic guitar
2 amp heads (Must be able to do clean, dirty and high gain sounds)
4 4x12 cabs
8 pedals

Here is what will be provided so you don't need to worry about any of these items.

Schmidt Array Pedalboard
Boss ES-8 switcher
CIOKS Pedal Power supply
1 Volume Pedal
1 Expression Pedal
1 Tuner
All cables
Wireless Unit
Roadcases

Build Your Rig!

Electrics - 2 Nik Huber Orca 59's, 2 PRS Modern Eagle II's, Gibson 59 ES-335
Acoustic - Taylor 814 Grand Concert
Amp Heads - Diezel VH4
4x12 Cabs - Diezel Front Loaded
Pedal 1 Strymon Timeline
Pedal 2 Strymon Big Sky
Pedal 3 Strymon Mobius
Pedal 4 Klirrton Oh! My Goat
Pedal 5 Klirrton Schnauze
Pedal 6 DryBell Unit 67
Pedal 7 Eventide H9 Max
Pedal 8 KSR Ceres

Don't need any other electric guitars aside from the ones I already have. Just a top of the line Ovation acoustic electric. A couple of Spidervalve 100 watt heads, so I don't need any pedals (except maybe a splitter) aside from the foot controller for the Spidervalves. Then I suppose some Bogner 4x12's to go with.

Unless it was music I was personally involved in, I'd decline. I've declined offers like that in the past. There are other players who would be much more suited to that sort of thing.

This thread has proven to me that you guys can't play along, don't read or can't read and don't follow direction on things. Most would however attempt to argue the devil out of hell though...lol. This thread had nothing to do with what you already have. You are getting paid to pick out a rig with certain criteria. The guidelines and criteria were outlined in detail. All you had to do was build your rig. Even the things you may consider and question that you may think of having to buy was listed and communicated that they were provided. The word on the street was you are the $hit, the player for the job. Nobody fits the gig better than you to be the replacement. You are it! That is why you got the call and the tech to build it and the car coming to get you to go shopping to pick out the gear and are not responsible for paying for it. :D

I played along just fine. I just didn't feel like typing out the details of my guitars that I already have. And if I didn't already have an old Spidervalve and love it, I would just go with a Helix direct in with an iem.
As far as the guitars go, I love the ones that I've acquired over the years. And I'm familiar with them. No wish list is necessary. Aside from an acoustic which I'm sad to say I lack.

Here we go: I'll be finishing the End of the Road tour filling in for Tommy Thayer. Should not be a problem playing wise. Played most of KISS ALIVE II the other night...

5 electric guitars
- I have 3; Frehley Les Paul, 73 Les Paul, 79 Les Paul
- I get a Tommy Thayer Epiphone Blue Sparkle
- I get a Tommy Thayer Epiphone White Les Paul

1 acoustic guitar
- Black Ovation Standard

2 amp heads (Must be able to do clean, dirty and high gain sounds)
- Actually no, they must not...I have seen this concert.
- 2 Marshall 2555 Silver Jubilees

4 4x12 cabs
- N/A - Kiss will provide the backline...
- Matching cabs

8 pedals
- Suhr Riot (Just in case)
- TC Spark (Full sized)
- Source Audio EQ2
- Boss SC1
- Boss BF3
- 2x Boss DD200's
- Boss RV6

I doubt I'll use most of the Pedals. I'm pretty sure I could get through this gig with my Frehley, either of my other LP Standards, and a delay and a boost pedal.

Ovation for the acoustic.
Nice choice.

The OP doesn't say what music this is for. If it's the orchestra backing up Cats on broadway, I'd pick a different rig from a Scorpions tour.

Funny you are worried about the gear and think nothing about learning let alone mastering the riff and solos note to note.

If you are referring to me the riffs and solos are not the issue. You got the call because you are the person for the gig. End of story. If you couldn't pull off the playing side of things you wouldn't be getting the call nor would you be getting the go ahead to build a rig on the bands/managements dime.

I didn't because everybody would bitch and whine about whatever band not being a band they like or a musical style they play or like, etc. I specifically left the band out so you folks could use your imagination. After all, this was the call of a lifetime or you to come join what I would say is your favorite band. :)

So which is your favorite band? Scorpions or Broadway music band?
