Sorry.... So ... So ... Sorry.... Dimarzio pickup equivalent. 59 neck JB bridge

Re: Sorry.... So ... So ... Sorry.... Dimarzio pickup equivalent. 59 neck JB bridge

I was tempted to correct your analogy by using different makes of cars that would represent how I feel about both pickup brands but I won't do that [emoji16]

Ford trucks out sale Dodges...so I'd say its a fair analogy ;)

Haha!

In reality, my comment was only about going to one company to ask about a product from another company. The analogy could have been Coke and Pepsi or Energizer and Duracell.

Just means more people like Katy Perry than Dream Theater

SD and DMZ are both in the same market just like Ford trucks and Dodge trucks are both in the same market. Katy Perry and Dream Theater are not in the same market–completely different audience so you are comparing apples to oranges my friend ;)

It means the majority of consumers are ignorant of the product.

Music..... Music is the market, but if you want to split hairs, Disturbed and Nickelback sell more records than Dream Theater. Harley Davidson sells more bikes than Victory. Mustangs outsold Camaros during the most pathetic years of the Mustang.

I'm not saying DiMarzio is better than SD... just saying sales are not synonymous with quality in most markets, and to equate sales alone with quality is ignorant.

Comparing Katy Perry to Dream Theater is most illogical here....do you really think Katy Perry is a progressive metal band/Dream Theater is a pop band?

I never said one was better–I just said that the analogy was fair because SD sales more in the pickup market and Ford sales more in the truck market.

The Music Industry is a much more diverse market than the market for trucks or aftermarket pickups. Again, unless Katy Perry and Dream Theater were both in the same market it's an illogical argument here.

Also, statements like "consumers are ignorant" because they don't like the music you like are just plain silly.

I think you're making something complicated that isn't. Almost nobody who appreciates music for its actual musical elements can stomach teen pop music. That's not me being a musical bigot. Thats just how it is. There's nothing illogical about that at all.

However, i did insert pop/corporate metal/rock "artists" to make it a closer comparison inside the genre of rock instead of generalizing music as a whole.

Nope, I'm not making it complicated at all. I'll break it down for you:

Katy Perry is not in the same market as Dream Theater.

Pop Music is not the same market as Progressive Metal.

SD Pickups are in the same market as DMZ Pickups.

Ford Trucks are in the same market as Dodge Trucks.

Simple! :D

What's not simple is trying to get SDs in Double Creme ;)

Agree to disagree. At this point i would just be repeating what i already said about music being the market instead of genres of music.

another thread going off the rails.

is this where someone shows up and asks for empirical evidence to support the statement on Nickleback, DT, and Katy Perry?

Re: Sorry.... So ... So ... Sorry.... Dimarzio pickup equivalent. 59 neck JB bridge

I've tried coffee and tea staining Strat pickguards to create a particular "aged white" with no luck, only to learn that some plastics are particularly resistant to staining, while others aren't. Is there an unspoken assurance that the white or parchment Seymour Duncan humbuckers will take to staining?

Can of paint? Just cover the magnets and spray the layers straight from top. Easy.

Re: Sorry.... So ... So ... Sorry.... Dimarzio pickup equivalent. 59 neck JB bridge

Howdy,

DiMarzio's closest equivalent to the '59n would be the Eric Johnson (A mild-mannered P/U designed to replicate old Gretsch P/Us) or perhaps the Air Classic, which has a little more mids than the '59. The Air Classic is a fantastic neck P/U; sounds great in my ES-335. The 36th anni PAF isn't terribly popular as a neck P/U.
