Re: Spider 2

I have a Fender Cyber Deluxe and I think it is the closest you can get in a moderately price SS combo to sounding like a tube amp. I A/B'd it with a spider and felt that th C.D. had it all over the spider. You can get one for around $4 on ebay. By the way, I still use a pedal for overdrive. I think that's the key for a good sounding SS amp.

Re: Spider 2

The only experience with the Spider II is that the guy who sold me my Paul played it through one first, and I can't judge it by that.

But I can tell you about my SpiderI 50W 112-

Horrible.

Piercing highs above 5 on the knob, below 5 you get nothing. HUGE booming bass anywhere above 5, below that nothing. Distortion mushes everything together, there is no definition at all on this amp. Cleans are alright but not great.

Effects- sound overproduced and cheesy, aside from phaser which produces no effect on mine.

Don't like it at all. It's for sale, but I will warn anyone that would buy it that they should try one first. I know people do like these.

I remember a thread a while ago where a bunch of people said the II was worse than the I.

You Got A Cyber Deluxe For $$$$4's !!!!?? :laugh2:

Re: Spider 2

Spider 2 distortion is good but I've never really cared for its cleans.... just not my cup of tea.... they arent bad for the money though. I'd give those Vox modeling amps a shot as well, those are quite good IMO. :)

Re: Spider 2

i had a line 6 spider II head, now my other guitarist in my band uses it through his marshall 4x12 cabinet. it sounds sick rocking out with my mesa. for the price, i can't think of a better head new.

Nobody has any advice on this??

I don't want to say what kind of deal you can get, I'm just saying most people don't realize that you can haggle at GC.

Re: Spider 2

I experienced that when I was talking to the guy about selling my current amp to pay for the Spider 2. He was obviously more than willing to drop the price once I said I can get these new on ebay for cheaper than this to my brother who is our other guitarist in my band. What I'm going to try and do is this...Lemme know if I'm stupid. I'll take my Blue Voodoo which is this model(on ebay for 200 I might add)http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38073&item=7305064250&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
and then I will sell them my X-series digitech chorus since I won't need it anymore with this amp. I will get very close to the 300$ asking price of the Spider 2 yes? If they don't I walk, if they do, I will talk the guy down to the depths of a price very close if not the actual price of what I will be given for my current amp and pedal. Think I'm screwy? GC people are dumb, you never know.

Re: Spider 2

GC people are also limited by what thier computer tells them. They have set instructions on thier computer for what prices they ask and what they take for trades etc.
Anything is worth a shot, dude. I can't tell you what they would go for. The only problem is, I believe they are selling Line6 stuff pretty close to cost (that was the case with my Spider I). On my Spider I, I got the guy down $20. On my footswitch I got him down $15 or so. You never know. I say go for it.

Re: Spider 2

Thanks guys, I'll probably be doing all this stuff Saturday if all goes well. I hafta get me a louder amp quick.
