SPLAWN AMP has arrived!

Re: SPLAWN AMP has arrived!

Damn Ben, now THAT's a hard rock and metal type of head! It's so fat and thick and I can just hear the notes bloom. Rivera who? :D Yep, I think you're really going to be finding your tone with this one. :fing2:

Re: SPLAWN AMP has arrived!

My clips really suck, but thats my own fault.. Typically I run everything at about 12 O'clock and adjust from there. Usually bass up the highest:

Presence: 12-1 ocl****
Bass: 4 oclock
treble: 12 oclock
mids: between 12-2 oclock depending on the stage and room.
preamp: 12-4 oclock depending on my chops that evening. :)

and craig, your clips DO NOT SUCK!!!!

I might have to pilfer your settings though ;)
alwasy interested in what a twist of the knob'll do with the QR!

I guess I would be in the 2nd category then. That amp sounds killer.

Re: SPLAWN AMP has arrived!

you need one ;) gotten nothin' but compliments on mine..it kills!! can't wait to gig with it in a couple weeks..

Re: SPLAWN AMP has arrived!

I'm in the 3rd category, I don't have one, and I'm not wishing I did.

Re: SPLAWN AMP has arrived!

Played the amp again last night. Yep, it's amazing for my style of playing. It's definitely an amp for a niche market: those that are going for the old school modded Marshall sound, but with modern conveniences and better sound quality.

Official review coming soon.

Hmmm, I'm liking your description here. One of these may have to go on to my wish list. It'll be a long while before I get another tube head but I wouldn't rule these out. I just love my Marshall too much. :D

I think you'd like the splawn better ;)

Possibly. I'd have to sit down with one for a day or two, maybe a week...LOL LOL.

I love the tone you get in 1st gear. Man, that's crunchy. 3rd gear is just sick....wow. 1st gear sounds similar to my Marshall with the gain all the way down. 3rd gear sounds like it with the gain all the way up. The difference I hear is a little more openness in the Splawn. They're out of my price range for the time being and I got a Tele project to build first. Awesome sounding amps, at least from what I'm hearing on the recordings. I've never stood in front of a Splawn driven 4x12 in person and that's where I'd have to be sold.

Re: SPLAWN AMP has arrived!

I definetly like first and third gears the best...they just work for me....I haven't really used first gear other than to make a couple clips and noodle around at home....for all out jamming I've been using third gear....

I'm gonna experiment at volume tonight at practice though..try different gears with the two different overdrive levels and see what works the best =)

definetly gotta try to sit down with any amp before ya buy it, that's for sure...I bought mine on a leap of faith and I actually lucked out...for a change..lol

LOL ... remind me one day to tell you the story of the note that was slipped under my door one day when I was recording solos for the TO album ... :D

I hope you gave them a free signed CD (to which they would've probably said, "yeah Eddie, we've HEARD it already." :laugh2:
