Stay Gold.... Tubes that is.

Re: Stay Gold.... Tubes that is.

That may be the case today. but not originally at all. They were originally sold in the very high end scientific instrument market -where tolerances for spectral analyzers, spectrophotometers, all kinds of equipment needing extremely tight performance tolerances when amplifying imagery/data.

Ive not found better than true NOS Amperex & Blackburn Mullards for rock amps and the 40 to 50 year old steel pins work fine. My Dad was an EE for a Honeywell Company in the 70's before he died. They made their own circuits & PCB's from scratch & gold wire was a big part of that. Im talking real gold wire, not plated. They had a large Heist of gold wire from his Company, it was a big deal at the time & worth alot of money. They caught those involved & it was an inside job.
I would stack these Amperex up against anything. I won't use CP tubes unless i have to.
Those Gold Lion tubes are plated not solid gold.

Amperex is another quality one agreed. They were also used for higher standard applications like my Dad's stuff.

-also, there are no solid gold pins on any tubes -they would be too soft -all of them are plating over a stiff substrate

Varied degree's of plating as well.
