Suggestions for a high gain amp

Re: Suggestions for a high gain amp

The 2502/GP3 combination gives great clean tones....but I'm running 6CA7s on Ch A, so it might allow for better cleans than the other VHT amps & I've never tried any of the others.

I don't know if you've ever heard of them or not but Omega Amps would definatley be worth checking out. Go to www.omegaamps.com Jim just built me a single channel high gain amp that has the marshall on steroids sound that I've always dreamed of, it's freakin amazing. While I was there I spent some time playing a new circuit that he's been working on, I think it would probably nail what you're looking for. It had a great fendery clean channel (one of the best cleans that I've heard from a channel switcher) and the gain channel just ripped. It had a mid boost and gain boost that gave an awesome hotrodded marshall kind of sound but it also could do a nice lower gain singing dumble kind of sound. It's the most impressive amp that I've ever played, it was super versatle and I swear I don't think that there's a bad tone to be found in it. Jim Price builds some seriously solid amps too those things just reak of quality, check out the pics of his boards on his site, they really are a work of art and that new amp I played looks even better on the inside than the ones he has pictured. He's got to be one of the nicest guys in the biz too, a true gentleman. If I had the cash I would buy one of his new ones in a heartbeat.

Re: Suggestions for a high gain amp

I would say try out the randall RM series with the modules....loved the clean clips...
or suck it up and buy an extacy...or something bogner...or a crappyier sub (hughes and ketter triamp or a carvin legacy)
