The second cap on the neck is a poor mans 'dark circuit', but that version is a complete fail because it's equivalent to having a tone control permanently rolled all the way down. You would be much better off with the original Esquire dark circuit which was a specific RC network of two caps and a resistor. The latter configuration would warm up the sound but still leak some treble - the result being if you flip to the neck pickup with the dark circuit engaged and played up by the neck, it would sound much like an archtop acoustic for rhythm/chord playing.
