Guys,
I'm writing a book on the Telecaster and wondered if any of you had any favourite pickup configurations they want to share?
I'm currently trying 5-2's which sound very good and balanced (like it says on the tin). I'm toying with the idea of a humbucker at the neck - any thoughts on which? Also 'out of phase' - one of my favourite Les Paul sounds - but on a Tele?
All the best

Re: Telecaster Pickups

I think the DMZ Area Ts are the best Tele pups out there. I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for.

Try a '59 in the neck. I don't see how you can go wrong.

Re: Telecaster Pickups

Howzabout a SD vintage mini in the neck and a Jerry Donahue in the bridge? That's the combo I'm going to try in my MIM Tele.

Re: Telecaster Pickups

The Virtual Vintage T neck is my favorite neck pup. Sounds very mini buckerish, except w/o routing!

It was discontinued, but I believe an "Area" pup has replaced it.

Re: Telecaster Pickups

Quarter Pound Tele, without question. The neck pup can be whatever it happens to be at the time (since I rarely use it), but that bridge pickup better twang HARD!

Re: Telecaster Pickups

I had a Jazz in the neck of my tele for years. I really liked it, and only changed it back to stock config recently to get more of a traditional tele vibe.
