i went to some of the local shops yesterday to check out amps. at first there was not much that caught my attention. then i looked over in the corner and saw the marshall haze combo and mini stack sitting there. i was able to demo them side by side. i plugged into the combo first. first thing i noticed was the cleans were a little hollow for lack of a better word. no matter what i did with the EQ i could not get it to sound any fuller. the gain channel sounded pretty good but when i added the boost it turned to mud. the only way i could get rid of it was to turn the treble to 8 and the bass to 4. the built in effects did not sound bad i have heard worse pedals. so after spending about 30 minutes with it i was disappointed.
then i moved on to the 15 watt head and 2 1x12 cabs i was really impressed with it. the cleans were real nice and full. it just sounded a lot better than the combo. the gain channel sounded just as good as the combo. the effects were the same quality. i figured the better sound was from the 2x12's but i looked and only one cab was hooked up. as it has been said before they are not high gain metal amps but they are good for blues and classic rock stuff. with a boost pedal they would do heavy though.
i was ready to buy the head then i say a orange tiny terror sitting behind the counter. i plugged it in a tried it out. all i can say is wow i have never tried one before i was completely surprised. it has plenty of gain on tap for what i play if i need any more i will boost it. the cleans are not as good as the 15 watt haze but they will do. i plan on getting a 2x12 cabs doing it in stereo and using the TT for gain and getting another small head for cleans.
they were all tested with an epiphone les paul standard and a gibson les paul traditional. sorry the review is not better.
