Re: The Best Tuners

If you are using a Gibson and want to replace the Klusons, the non-locking full sized Grover 18:1 machines are direct replacements as far as screw holes go. If you have a modern Gibson, you are set. If you have an older one you may have to widen the hole that the post goes through.

The high ratio Govers are stable, smooth, hold tune perfectly and LOOK vintage (check out Jimmy Page's guitars from the 70's). Sperzels and other brands look a bit too modern for me.

I like the Boss TU-2.

Hey dude, this thread is referring to the tuning machines on the headstock, often referred to as "tuners." I can understand your confusion, though. Kudos to the TU-2!!! That is the best pedal tuner available, IMHO! But Peterson Strobe tuners are the best all around!!

Anyway,

Another one for Sperzel!!!

Re: The Best Tuners

LOL... I never paid real close attention to the tuners on my guitars. The only ones I ever had problems with were the stock Gibson ones. So I dug around and most my guitars have different tuners on them. But the ones that seemed the nicest and most stable are the Schaller and the Sperzel... I voted Schaller but could have gone either way
